Yes, we'll I may have over spoke. I literally have 6 minor chips in the hood. Nothing like the road rash I am seeing posted here. We'll I've it a shot. If it doesn't work, I'll be at a shop getting a new hood spray. ;-)

I used Dr. Colorchip on my Ocean Blue Metallic 996. Decent results on a handful of small hood chips. The product is fairly easy to use. I had much more luck dabbing each chip followed by blending. Applying it "road rash" style to a large area did not work as well for me.
The color match was very good. The color basically lays in the bottom of the chip, so in the right light, you can still see the chip is there. But from a distance, the repair doesn't look bad.

I'm a huge fan of Dr. Color Chip for dark colored cars -- I've used it on my black 996 and have been extremely happy with the results, vs. other options. Works equally well on my wife's dark blue SUV.
You will note a remark earlier that it doesn't work well on metallic colors, particularly Arctic Silver. That is absolutely true. Even on the Dr. Color Chip web site, it notes that Silver is always problematic for touch-up work. But for a dark car, I think its a terrific touch-up system.

Woo Hoo! Dr. Colorchip arrived today. Can't wait to get my car back from the shop so I can touch it up. I only have 4-5 minor chips on the front, so hoping this will hold me until the respray. I try to post before and after.

Better post pics. So does the application paint "wear-out" over time?

I have read on here that it will last pretty long. I am not looking for a long term solution, though. If it gets me a year, it's done its job. Just moved the hood respray to the bottom of my project list, so just buying some time :-)

I used the arctic silver metalic a few weeks ago, for just a few chips it did an excellent job. Doesn`t fill it perfectly but the colour match is excellent and looks far better that traditional touch up paint. Don`t think I`d use it on more than the odd chip - so I don`t stay behind other cars - problem solved!!
