Default PCM2 System error: amplifier, CD changer not available....no sound

Looking for ideas, suggestions on this one...

Discovered the mysterious complexity of the PCM in my 2004 TT. Give me a multi-dimensional database over this system any day.

Getting a System Error: amplifier, CD changer not available

Radio seems to be working (station signals coming in, but no sound)

Using an updated Version 3 PCM OS. Radio functional but no sound except for the faint pop on power-up.

I've heard about MOST rings, (fiber optic network in a token-ring configuration?) My Durametrics says
9114 control unit Status" not present.

So what does that mean?

Sounds like a handshake problem, but how to resolve without going to P hell (Porsche dealer)

HELP!!!!

Had an amp not availiable message once after i replaced the batt, a shutdown/startup corrected it that time. You could try reset the pcm, hold down 1-4-8 i belive?

Good luck.

It looks like you have a 2002, 3 or 4 if it is the car in your avatar.

I have an 03. When I first got mine the battery was weak.

If I left the sound system on when I turned the car off the system would not boot correctly on restart. The display would light and tell me it could not find the remote CD changer or the amp would be lost in space.

The only way I could get them to play together again was to reboot things by removing fuses D8 and 9 for a few seconds.
I got in the habit of turning the system off before I shut the car down and waiting 1 minute before turning it on after starting.

Lately it has been behaving, still shut it off before the car.
