Every once in a while I raise it on the way to the carwash so they can get the bellows clean and get any leaves, etc out of the creases. It seems to stay up for a few cycles before going back down, cause sometimes it's still up when I get home (about 2 ignition cycles or so).

If anyone were to see me with it in the up position at low speed, I'm certain I could give a **** less about their opinion

I never really thought of it from a cosmetic standpoint. Cool either way, I guess. But many years ago I read that the engine cooled better with the spoiler up. Might be a myth. but on ultra hot day/drives in th city I raise it when I remember to do so.

The funny thing is that it is up in the picture (left) that was used by the person who sold the car to me. So on some level, I guess it looks fine with the spolier up.

I was stopped at a red light when some teenagers stopped behind me. I noticed the passenger pointing at my car and making an 'up and down' gesture by putting his hands together and lifting his top hand up and down while talking to the driver.

**** jockey to the rescue!

Just ran into the kid who bought my 996 and stopped to chat for a bit. He had the spoiler up and said he never puts it down Sort of matched the horrible rims he put on the car, the tints, and "de boomin system". Ah... youth.

Something like "Buh-bye" or "Seeya!"
I remember seeing "Are U Wet Yet?" on a spoiler when I lived near Philly. My initial thought was, "What a way to ruin a beautiful car!" Once I saw the driver, I needed no further explanation. he was def **** Jockey material... LMAO

I went on a 300km drive today from Vancouver to Pemberton, via Whistler. Nice mountain roads and engine rpms were never below 3000. Air conditioning off, all "manuell", the coolant temperature gauge was in the middle of the 0 (180). I raised the spoiler and within minutes the gauge was in the middle of the '8'. So from now on, I am driving with the spoiler up on warm days. And that ain't no **** jockey yarn...
