Default 996 Cab Top Preventative Maintenance

All, I hesitate to start new posts because there is such a wealth of information on here and I try to convince myself that everything must have been covered before - some topics MUCH more than others :-/

I want to make sure I am keeping my car in tip top working condition. Is there a best practice around preventative maintenance on the soft top? Really focused more on the moving parts as I have seen good threads on cloth maintenance.

If you know of a thread already here, please refer me. I did a search and did not see anything on the preventative side.

So, this weekend - when not driving - doing the radiator clean AND hopefully this cab top PM.

BTW, if it is at all helpful, I have an 04 with 43k on the clock. As always, thanks!

Hi, use a good soft top cleaner and conditioner when you clean her and learn from my mistake and make sure your drainage points are well maintained.

Obviously check the level of the hydraulic fluid regularly. Keep the stowage areas for the top clean and free of debris.

Other than than, I haven't done anything to it.

Once a year, I open the top to its service position, and apply lubricant to all of the hinges, and pivot pins. Silicone or WD-40 is just fine.

Do you have to remove the rear carpet area to do this?
