Any Reviews of New 996 Book?
Saw in Octane magazine there is a new 996 handbook out. It was published May 1, 2012.
It's now out on Amazon (link below). I figure if I can learn just one thing per book of this type, it typically pays for itself. But this baby is $73 bucks and "glove box size." Has anyone else seen/bought this. Worth the price?

I cannot imagine a "Glove Box" sized book will offer any more info on the 996 than the well researched "Coffee Table" sized reference book "Porsche 996 - The Essential Companion". I can assume it may be more current on issues like the "bearing issue" but all I want to know about that (and maybe to much more) is right here on Rennlist. I think I will save the $75.

Hm-m-m-m. Glove-boxed size; 144 pages. I think I'll wait to see a tidal wave of top ratings before I spend any money on this.
Could just be a bunch of downloaded pages from Rennlist. Wonder what he did with Aeroman's avatars?

I'm thinking of buying the book, paging through it, then deciding if I want to return it or not. However, the return policy is not clear. This would be easier if my local Barnes and Noble had it.
I have more confidence that the upcoming 101 996 Projects book will be worth the money, but I don't know when that will be released. I would like a book now, so I can use it as a guide for some summer projects. It gets too cold in WI to have fun doing anything on your car in late fall.

States that it is an owners manual, don't you have the one that came with the car. It is glove box size and covers only info specific to your car. "Porsche 996 Companion", I have it, great book, all the information you ever wanted to know with the information you want to know. Companion is not a shop manual, just great reading.

My views on this book are that it is an excellent and handy book for reference.
The author comes on here renntech and 6 speed and there are credits there to Loren in the book too.
I'm pleased I have it under my steering column.
