Well worth adding these even if it was twice the price.

I shipped my mufflers to Darin and don't regret it a bit. It changes the sound even more than I expected.

Darin is extremely customer service oriented and was a complete pleasure to deal with. I give him a 10 out of 10.

Mine came with the car when I bought it and it just makes the car that much more fun to drive. I hope it will make it under the 90DB limit a Laguna Seca for a trackday in Sept. I just love running the car through tunnels or underpasses. The sound is intoxicating.

Fister D = music to your ears! A symphony of awesome sound (when you get on it) and the smile won't stop!
You will not have any regrets, period. As has been stated, Darin is the best and his workmanship is second to none.

Darin has perfected the operation and has done hundreds, maybe thousands of them. The Gundo hack attempts to duplicate that process but generally falls short, especially when it come to the quality of the welding. As they used to say in Vaudeville - "Pay the two dollars".

I listened to the fister videos posted on youtube and realized I've heard them before on a 993 at one of our local meets. That exhaust sounds incredible! Too bad this wasn't available back when I purchased my GHL's.

p.s. Watch the vids where the person is actually driving. Garage and driveway revs sound awful.

The sound is pretty nice, I just made my own, started with the PSE hack, wasn't quite what I was looking for then did the fister D mod, depending on what your skills are like as a welder, or your if you know of a good exhaust shop may be worth getting them to do it. I would consider myself more competent then the average welder, so the $20 I spent on a 180deg bend and a few dollars in tig rod were worth the work to have it completed in the same day.

Dont have any pics of my fister hack, but here are some of my PSE hack

Question Fister D Mufflers

For those of you that have the Fister D Mufflers how did you sequence the install. Did you have a shop remove your stock mufflers, ship them to Fister for modification and then install on your 996? Or did you buy a modified set from Fister, install them on your 996, and then ship Fister the stock mufflers for the "Exchange"?

Did any of you get the optional ceramic coating? How's that working out? What finish color did you go with?

What made you pick Fister over the other makes?

I bought a set of used 996 mufflers from a fellow rennlister. I had them shipped directly to Darin Fister for modification. I opted for the ceramchrome ceramic coating. I'm pleased with the choice. I subsequently sold my mufflers to another rennlister.

I picked Fister because I wanted the car to be louder and sound better, but I was concerned with the reports of drone from some aftermarket mufflers. I was also quite pleased with the price. My logic was that if I didn't like them, I won't have invested too much in them and I can buy some other mufflers.

I'm very happy with them.

I pulled my mufflers off my car, as it has low mileage, becuase I wanted them back. You don't know the mileage of the ones that arrive from Darin (not that there are any problems, that I am aware of.). Darin was awesome. I bought two wardrobe boxes, and packing stuff, sent them to Darin. We discussed his timeframe for work and the posibility of getting them ceramic coated, but in the end. I decided against the coating. About 2 1/2 weeks later my mufflers came back form Darin. Took about an hour to install.

The Fister D mufflers weld a pipe between the muffler inlet and outlet plumbing, effectively acting as a partial muffler bypass. The PSE hack welds a pipe between the cap in the muffler case and the outlet plumbing, bypassing one chamber of the muffler just like the PSE system does. It produces a slightly different sound.
