Default I got rear ended today

Going South on hwy 49 today I got rear ended when making a right turn . An older guy in a new Lexus hit me going about 65.
Thank goodness no one was hurt. My 996 took a hard hit but kept us in tact.

wow, looks like a clear day, just bad timing on the other driver's part. hopefully, the other guy is fully insured and either the car gets properly repaired or if it's totalled, you get to upgrade.
good luck and look into a Diminished Value claim on top of the repair cost.

Yikes, what a total bummer. GL with the insurance, etc., Glad that you were okay and not pushed into oncoming traffic.

WOW, that accident wiped out 10% of the GDP of Mississippi. Glad everyone is ok. The engineers did their jobs.

Thanks everybody,
Yes the guy does have insurance, we both have State Farm, I don`t anticipate any problems.
I was surprised that the Lexus` airbag did not deploy also.
I`ll talk to State Farm tomorrow and go from there.

Wow, glad to hear you are OK. Probably just a little rubbing compound and dentless repair, and you'll be right back on the road!

Glad you're okay. The damage to your 996 doesn't look as extensive as I expected for such a hard impact. I hope the repairs go smoothly.

I don't recall where I read this, but I thought that airbags had a speed zone in which they inflate. I know that an impact under 11 mph will not typically cause airbag deployment. I believe that there is an upper limit too. Over 60 mph (just guessing on the number) the airbag doesn't really add anything. If you aren't wearing a seatbelt at that speed, the airbag won't save you.

It's hard to tell, but from the front picture it looks like your rear quarter panel is bent in front of the rear wheel? I hope that's not the case - might indicate a total loss....

Pretty good hit to both vehicles. Glad to hear no one was hurt. Too bad about the Porsche, hopefully after it is repaired all will be good again.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I've seen very few 996's or any Porsches around here in MS. A few 944's.

Looks like a total loss with damage up to the drivers door, it doesn't take much with these cars. Sorry to hear, will you get another if it is a total loss?

Haven't ever seen you driving in the area. Would love to meet sometime for a fun drive around the Gulf Coast!
