Default Electrical Connector Near Starter

Can't figure out where this connector plugs into. Any help appreciated.
That's the flywheel in the background. Starter is removed.

That's not the trigger wire for the starter?
I'm istalling the lower intake manyfold on my engine today, with the wiring harness, I'll see if I can figure out this for you.

That would be great, thanks!

It's definitely not the trigger for the starter, as I have the starter back in and have been running with the plug disconnected for the last 6 months. The car hesitates for about 1/2 second on hard throttle in the 3k to 4k RPM range, like there's an intake leak. I'm hoping this connector has something to do with it.

I have the same wire on my '99 , 6speed, M92. When I took the engine apart it was not connected to anything and laying on top of the engine in front of the starter exactly like yours. I am all ears as to what this thing MAY connect to. I am out of plugs to connect it to. thanks
