Default Anyone with Photoshop can you help?

Can someone that is proficient with Photoshop adjust this image to the following specs so I can load it into my new Kenwood DNX6990HD as the start up screen?

I really appreciate the help if you can do it and if possible email it to white99C2@gmail.com

Thanks,
Rob

mage formatting information
1) File Type needs to be Bit Map
2) Pixel Size should be 800 * 480, but you need to first set to 921 * 480
3) Picture does need to be crushed during finalization, from 921*480 to 800 *480, as it will get expanded when loaded
4) You need to use a dedicated image processing application such as Photoshop in order to be able to make the right settings and save in the correct format.
5) Save as 16 bit Full Color BMP and the setting of RGB of R5,G6,B5 is very important
6) Windows Applications like Paint cannot be used to make the BMP as the settings for the RGB and picture crushing cannot be done with that application.

Try downloading IrfanView or Gimp. Both are free.

White Out...try this. I saved it as a .bmp put when I upload it, it converts to .jpg. PM me your email address if you like and I will send to you directly.

On a windows computer using the windows PAINT program right click you jpg or png file and copy it. Then using PAINT in the Accessories files click paste and then save. Then click file type and see monochrome, 16, 24, or 256 bit BMP as your selections.

Good luck.

Gotta add it appears picking 256 color bmp strips some of the colors while 24 bit doesn't have any mess ups.
So go with 24 bit if 256 gives a problem.

Oops...me no read good!

All for the best since I just read the super techy stuff at the bottom and that far exceeds my level of talent. I am sure someone smarter can help him out!

Rob,

Just sent you a file per your specific format requirement, try it out and see how it works.

BTW, damn you as you may have gotten me thinking about upgrading the OEM radio to one of these new duble-DIN entertainment units for the summer crusing, then there is the amp, the speakers!!

Can you tell me what key combo you're using to access the system screen in order to change the splash image? I have a new DDX790 and have tried a few key combos and not been able to get into the system screen. I called Kenwood and they wouldn't provide info, they started by saying you can't change it on 2012 & 2013 units. When I mentioned a few 2012 youtube videos showing it, they said it's not supported (so I guess these are hacks).

Thanks

here you go:

The first steps is to format your image.

1. File Type needs to be Bit Map or .BMP

2. Pixel Size should be 800*480, but you need to first set to 921*480.

3. Picture does need to be resized during finalization, from 921*480 to 800*480, as it will get expanded when loaded.

4. You need to use a dedicated image processing application such as Photoshop in order to be able to make the right settings and save in the correct format.

5. Save as 16 bit Full Color BMP and the setting of RGB of R5,G6,B5 is very important.

6. Windows Applications like Paint cannot be used to make the .BMP as the settings for the RGB and picture crushing cannot be done with that application.

Note: Step 5 above is absolutely crucial to accomplish this task. If its not in this format it may not show or it may not load.

Before entering the setup mode, save your settings from the SETUP MEMORY option. Select TOOLS, SYSTEM, SETUP MEMORY. Select YES, MEMORY and confirm that you want to write to the memory. This is also detailed on page 84 of the owners manual. Once the start up screen proceeder is complete, recall your settings from the above options.

1. To enter setup Mode, Press and hold VOLUME DOWN & MENU buttons, then press RESET button (red triangle). (Use a pen to press in the red triangle)

2. Release reset button and hold VOLUME DOWN & MENU buttons until illumination activates. Once you press the red triangle while holding the other 2 buttons the radio will power off. Continue to hold the 2 buttons until you see your radio button lights come on.

3. Once the startup screen menu loads, connect the USB thumb drive containing image file. The files must be in the root directory.

4. If you want to change the opening image to your own image (i.e., company logo), Press OEM Image.

5. Select the image you want. The image does not seem to display (blank window) and two boxes show up even if you only have one image on the thumb drive. Pick the first one if you only have one image on the thumb drive and when you select it it will show the file name.

6. If you want to put original KENWOOD opening back, press KENWOOD image.

7. When the image is loaded, select Enter. Once the file writing is complete, hit the RESET button again. The unit should now boot with your new screen. Recall your settings and your done.

White99- thanks for the info.

When I get into the first screen it says: CUSTOMIZE MODE and it gives me two buttons to choose from "opening/img customization" or "change initial parameters". I choose "opening/img customization" and it takes me to a screen called: SYSTEM UPDATE - please insert update USB.

I put the usb in, it trys to read it but can't and asks me again to insert update USB or power off/on to cancel.

Does this mean the file I have which was a .BMP that I found on a kenwood site, an incorrect file? This is the only file I have on the USB stick.

Thanks

Go to www.kenwoodforums.com and post something there. Those guys will figure it out and help you. Also join POI factory to get weekly updates of red light and speed camera POI's installed in your new Kenwood.

After an exhaustive search I found someone who told me the 2013 DDX790 splash screen can't be changed....yet:

"The DDX lineup requires you to make a specific .bin file which is pretty much an "update" file and requires a gama tool. I can do the ddx719 but not the 2013 ddx790s yet. this also requires you to be an authorized Kenwood dealer to has access to such a tool"
