Default Frunk Struts

After banging my head on the front trunk one time to many I decided to replace the struts today. Stabilus parts on Pelican (look like Porsche OEM supplier) were ~$23 each. For those that haven;t done it before - when you get the new parts, it is pretty obvious how they go in. Just use a small screw driver to pry off the metal clip that holds the strut to the hood (a bang with a rubber mallet worked well) - and be careful the hood doesn't slam shut when the strut pops off (since the other side is probably very weak as well). Picture of the metal clip below. Remove the bottom of the strut in the same way. The new ones came pre-lubed - else just apply a bit of grease on the ball joint. About a 5 minute job per side (or less).
Now hood pops up much more soothly and stays up !

Nice job, you didn't even get dirty. BTW That shadow is a little obscene.

Strong work. I did mine last year. If only the Cayenne rear hatch struts were so easy...

I recently did mine too. Got tired of it coming down unexpectedly on my head. Much better now.

Me too, it hurts when the trunk lid collapses on your head. I don't know which is worst, the hurt or the surprise. Cold weather turns the struts to wet noodles.
