11K ! that is a steal. Boxsters run in the range. The higher mileage may have driven that price, but if the engine was well taken care of you will have many more years of enjoyment. Considering how you jumped into the horn issue you seem like a DIY kind of a guy.. you'll find lots of help here. How does the interior look ?

For the price I'm very happy with the interior. It's full leather. A few deep scratches on the seat backs and rear seats but no rips or tears. The guy that did the PPI said that the driver seat bolster had need replaced. Looks good.

Yes I'm a DIY guy. Plan on doing oil change, transmission fluid change, and spark plugs next month. Then installing new oil pressure and coolant temp senders to see if I can fix the broken gauges

Thanks!

so i had a few gauges that were not working (fuel, external temp, coolant temp, and oil pressure). not sure what the problem was. Replaced the external temp sensor first because it was the easiest and cheapest. no effect. so i thought it's either the instrument cluster or a short. I found an instrument cluster and craigslist, plugged it in, and all my gauges came back! it's nice having a working fuel gauge (and oil pressure and coolant temp).

will be bringing the car to the mechanic on Fri for a coolant flush, power steering flush, fuel filter change, and to re-seal the oil pan.

great car

Picked up a set of sport classic II wheels with continental tires from eBay for $500. Need to change out the c4 center caps though.

Just had coolant changed, fuel filter, re-sealed oil pan, changed power steering fluid

Looks great, love the new wheels. Now all you need is some Smoked Side Markers. Enjoy, that's a great looking car

I agree! I have a black Cab. I put on the smoked side markers -- didn't look right. The pumpkins are fine with black.

Here's my little tip for new Cab owners that will save you countless hours over the life of your car -- resist the temptation to spray your convertible top with water repellant (303 etc..). Instead, get a plastic cup and a 2-inch, cheapo paint brush and just brush the stuff on. You'll will get better coverage an no overspray.

2 other top-tips --- get a classic clothes lint brush (the red ones) to clean any fibers etc that may stick to the top. The sticky roller cleaners are kind of bad news -- you'll see they pull too much black fiber from the top itself.

When you dry the top with a chamois or even the best drying towel or microfiber, you will get a fiber trail. The worse the fabric, the worse the trail. A 5 second blast with the leaf blower at low speed does a great job drying with no trail.

I like the orange ones. I like the contrast.

Thanks for the top tips. I've used a lint brush. But won't the paint brush leave bristles on the top?

And do you spray the paint brush with the water repellant or is there another water repellant that you can dip the paint brush into?

Thanks!

Did some maintenance today. Replaced transmission fluid with porsche brand, replaced spark plugs, coils, brake fluid. Also added gt3 brake cooling ducts.

Decided to go with the smoke corner markers.

Put it up on jack stands for the first time and dropped the mufflers to access the spark plugs

Had a fun day

You might want to pull your instrument cluster and make sure all of the connectors are properly seated. Seems like a good possibly that one connector is not fully engaged and causing your gauges to not work.

Congrats! What a great price! Enjoy.
