Default Oil leaks from top of motor?

'99 996, 6sp, coupe, 76k miles. Just bought the car and sorting out the issues (that I knew about before buying )

I suspected an RMS issue, but while under the car last night I was able to see that the oil seems be be originating from the top part of the motor and coming down the front left side (front=forward and left=drivers side correct?) The right side in the same spot is dry. If I shine a light under the intake, I can also see some oil there too. I searched with various keywords but didn't come up with anything that addressed this area specifically.

Any ideas?

Spark plug tubes also seem to be pretty common as well on these.

I forgot I'd bought an index finger sized camera that connects to my PC a few years back. Hopefully I can use it to confirm the AOS or something else.

Thanks for the direction.

How exactly did you get that image? I've had a small leak, bought a new AOS from pelican, I've wondered if that's really the leak. Would love to get a similar image of the top of my engine.

Thanks!

This wasn't done using my endoscope, but a std. camera.
Jacked up the car from the left rear jack pad about 18" and crawled underneath with my feet out the back (after setting a jackstand - of course ) My head was under the inner CV joint looking up and back toward what is the front of the motor. HTH.
