Sounds like a very nice car! I had a '99 Silver Cab with a new factory motor, $95K MSRP, 61K miles sold 3 years ago for $30K. The guy that bought it is still very happy with it.

If I was looking for another 996, I'd buy yours. GLWS

I agree with you. I was just trying to poing out that there are two options for updating the IMS in these cars for those who are worried. You can replace the bearing when you do the clutch, or you can purchase a car that has already had the engine go and has a newer engine with Porsche's updated bearing. Either options has a cost associated with them, for those people looking at picking up a 996 a car with an updated bearing may be an attractive option.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll be back in the Porsche camp again someday, just need a bigger garage first...

Just a thought - for those of us in the know, this would be more than a fair purchase. For those who are not enthusiasts, the detail on why the replacement engine complete with the invoice might scare them off.

The invoice made me feel a little better as my dealer charged me about $2,200 for labor and a few misc. parts when they swapped the motor in my 2004 C4S a few months ago. I have 40k miles on the car with less than 2k miles on the motor, and man does it run like a dream.

I realize this doesn't really help you, but if I was still employed and not needing to live off of my savings, I would most likely scoop this one up and add it to the stable.

I hope somebody realizes the value of this deal and seizes the opportunity.

Thanks for all of the positive replies. At the moment I have the car listed for sale on Rennlist and Autotrader. Any other sites you would recommend?

I also was curious how the non-enthusiast would react to the engine replacement. For those that know about the 996 it would be a nice plus, but not sure if it would be a red flag for others?

Because it's a silver cab, there's a ton of them out there. Price it correctly and it will sell within a week.

Beautiful car, by the way - good luck with the sale.

Thought I would bump this thread for the weekend. Price is still $31,500 or best offer. I've had a lot of interested people, but nothing definitive yet. Hope everyone is doing well!

Sorry the sale is slow. Recommended it to two different prospective buyers. Seems like a great car. GLWS.

I also recommended it to a friend who was looking at a pricey yet questionable Turbo Cab. But he has his heart set on a Turbo. Patience, it'll happen.

Dropped the price on my AutoTrader ad to $32,000. Price for the Rennlist community is now $31,000.
