Default car seat replacement ?

I have a 2000 996 C4. The upholstery is in need of an upgrade.
My questions are:
1). Should I look for a pair of used front seats (as usual, rears are fine) or re-upholster what I have?
2). If re-upholster, what kit(s) do you suggest?
Thanks for any help you can lend.

IMHO, there are tons of original seats that fit your car available on the market which would likely cost less than reupholstering your seats. If yours are so worn it's most likely the padding is quite dead.. Lots of racers took seats out of boxsteers 996, 997 that fit perfectly in your car.

Good luck

Find yourself a nice pair of used sports seats, they always come up for sale.

Every time I've seen seats for a 996 come up for sale either here or on ebay, they are usually asking top dollar. No matter, I will still keep my eyes open for a set of Savannah for my sweetie

Thanks Rob, Marc and Larry, Great advice regarding others who have put light weight racing seats in their 996s or Boxters. Question, is there a place to post "Wanted to purchase" on this site?
Thanks again,
Andy

Yes - check the (parts wanted) classified section of Rennlist, and check the f/s section regularly until you find your seats.

i had the same issue ..l just hang in there and wait it out on eBay.

2 years ago my seat switch died. they are amazingly expensive so I was regulary searching porsche seats. One day some guy had two brand new 2002 Carerra seats listed for $600 total and $150 shipping.

Between the time he ordered the car in 2001 and when it arrived, he decided he wanted the sport seats. He pulled the standard seats out the first day he got the car and these had been sitting boxed in his basement for 10 years. He sold the car years ago his wife wanted the the seats out of the basement.

My interior looks like new.

Best eBay buy ever! But these things do happen.
