Dash temp display
My wife and I both have 2000 996's. She got hers first. When I got mine last week I noticed that it had the outside temperature displayed on the middle dial on the dash. But neither of us have the fourth stalk indicating that we have the onboard computer.
Anyone else have this temperature display?
Should it be on my wife's car? If so, how do I get the display to show.
And it's showing in Fahrenheit. I'm in Canada so I'd like to see it in Celsius. Any way to switch it? I did the switch for the speed from MPH to KPH. But this stayed in F.

That means your car had the OBC enabled at some point by a previous owner.
Her car has not been enabled, but it can be.....these model year cars (99 to 2001-I think) have the On Board Computer (OBC), but is a matter of enabling it and doing the mod to go thru the menus.......

I found out about this a few months ago and added it to my car. Here's my post about it. You'll find lots of links to more info there.
Probably the simplest DIY is at pelican.

I can't guarantee similar results, but I accidentally enabled the Temperature display (in F) when I changed batteries. I think a power disconnect will possibly default to temperature on the display. (was previously showing miles to empty). Worth a try, but make sure you have your radio code handy before trying.
