Default Fabspeed Performance Package Installed!!

OK, my order was placed today for the "Fabspeed Performance Package."

Per Fabspeed's description:

This is a complete Fabspeed 996 Maxflo high performance exhaust system from manifolds to tips.

System includes:
  • Maxflo Sport headers with copper gaskets,
  • 200 cell high-flow X-Pipe sportcats,
  • Maxflo Mufflers with either polished or black chrome tips,
  • and your choice of either the cold air kit with BMC filter or the *new* carbon fiber competition style intake system.
  • German imported 200 cell high flow catalytic converters.
  • High quality 14-16 gauge T304 stainless steel—much stronger than competitors’ systems. Saves 12 lbs.from the rear of your car.

Looks like they had to order in the X-pipe, so I have to wait until next week for it to ship. Crap, now it's the Hyundai to drive for a couple weeks or so.

I'll post pix and sound clips, before and after the install, and give you guys some feedback.

[Hey, how can I insert a video clip from my digital camera? Do I have to do it as a YouTube link or something?]

It doesn't come with a tuned ecu? I would think that would be needed to extract the most from that setup.

That is available, but will have to wait for another round of Mastercard bills to add in. Apparently, stainless steel has a value similar to platinum based on what I'm already spending.

I hear you. I pieced my whole system together from various manufacturers and bought used, and it was still quite a chunk of change by the time I was done(well technically two more mods to go).

"...but will have to wait for another round of Mastercard bills to add in". AND, get my wife to approve another round. That can be a daunting task.

dyno before and after ?
You know, I have been giving that lots of thought... would love to do that. Hmmm......

Fabspeed has a video clip online with a before and after dyno, but sure would be great to see it on my car....

But then, what if I do the exhaust, dyno it, and only find a 3 HP increase? If I don't do the dyno, the HP increase is whatever I can fool myself to believe.

Update: I just got an email from Fabspeed. They apparently have the X pipe now, and will be shipping everything tomorrow.

Would any of you guys save any parts from the old exhaust system? This will be a full replacement for me, from headers to tips.

I'm still toying with the idea of dynoing it before and after. But, that will add more time and I'm chomping at the bit to get back on the road!

If you have the space save it. If you go to sell the car privately the exhaust could be a deal breaker for the buyer especially if it is loud. I know many people who can't stand the loud exhaust on cars. I on the other hand would think it is a bonus. Just my $.02.

Can't wait to hear this thing

Thanks, GuyIncognito, I know that shop well (JBA) and have been there several times. I'm up in north county (Oceanside), so quite a haul from here. I'll ask around.

There's a race shop about a mile from here... I hear their dyno all the time, from my house. I never stopped in.... wonder if they will take a walk-in.

I don't have room in the garage to store the old exhaust, but I could toss it out behind the garage. Not my preference, though. The Fabspeed is supposed to have a good sound, but not so loud that it is obnoxious. Seems like at a mininum, someone here might like the headers? They are easy to store.
