The Amazing Haunted Seat
Got in my 996 last night to head to the grocery store.
Sat in the front seat -- noticed that it was back a full 4-5 inches from normal and that the seatback was at a fairly extreme rear-facing level. Also, neither the seat settings not the manual electronic seat controls on the side of the seat are working.
Car was in the garage. No kids. No tampering.
It's driveable -- but barely. I can grip the 6:00 on the wheel with one hand. And to others on the road I look like I am driving in a supine position.
Geez, guys, any ideas on this one? Is there away to manually move these seats.
Anyone else with haunted seats?

Check fuse? Check wiring harness under the seat? Any water on the floor board? Pull the seat switch control panel and check for 12V on the switches. Have to go backwards from there all the way to the battery.

As far as I know there isn't a way to manually move the position. My seat switch panel burned out on the passenger side a couple of years ago. If I recall correctly you can't buy individual switches so you end up paying ~$300 for the module.

Good writeup on what is under the seat. This is one complicated setup to say the least. The writeup stated you can pull the motors and rotate the shaft to move the seat to a better position until it gets repaired.
