Valve tapping
This weekend my wife and I went to the NJ shore and took the 911. The next day I started up the car and heard what I believe to be vale tapping for 15-20 secs and then it went away. I did not hear it at any other of the 4-5 times I stopped and started the car again. It is also not a something I remember hearing before so should I be worried?

not unusual to have a very brief tapping noise until lifters pump up on a cold engine.
Started when engine is already warm you shouldn't hear it though.

Could be after a long hard run the oil was thin and leaked out of one of the lifters overnight. With the engine start and oil flowing, It took a few seconds to pump back up. I wouldn't worry about it unless it does it over and over again consistently.

Sorry to resurrect. But my car seems to be having the same issue. After few days of sitting I seen to get lifter noise accompanied by CEL. Has happened a few times each time my Indy resets it and sends me on my way but never done this before. I change oilr religiously 5k or less and just had done 1k miles ago.

I run 5/40 Mobil one and no noise. Just a bit at start up and then goes away only happenes infrequently. Don't have CEL codes but he says the codes are misfires.

Did your indy recommend anything like a full diagnosis? A misfire that's enough to trip the CEL warrants further investigation IMHO.
