Is it just me or does every Subaru, Honda, or mini van want to race???
Sometimes I actually get tired driving the 996 and enjoy my daily driver.....2004 Jaguar X-Type. It seems every car wants to pass or race me for some reason. Problem is, gets dangerous when they are right on your rear or cut you off to make a point and post it on some message board they beat a 911. Anyone else experience this?
My 2004 Jaguar is my cheap, daily driver and AWD for the snow/winter time. I love it that the car blends in. The BBS rims on it are my summer rims....winter and snow tires go on soon and the 996 goes in the garage for the Colorado snow season.

In my country there is a saying "give way to the fool". I have not had many negative encounters in my 911 in the past 2.5 months I had. Most people move over for me on the highway.
If someone wants to pass me, I will slow down. I really don't care if civic or some other ****box passes me. He is in the civic, I am in 911. They want to prove something by beating a 911, that says it all.

It doesn't happen often. But, if I'm at a traffic light and some gayboy ricer (someone used that phrase recently in another thread, and I think it's hilarious) wants to race, I pretend like I'm going to. When the light changes I may zip ahead a few feet, then back off... let that chump get the ticket or get hit by someone flying through a red light, is my opinion.

Quit left lane camping, maybe you wouldn't be cut off.
Just kidding...
I actually haven't had It happen to me once while living here. Back when I used to live in the North East though, as long as I drove something semi-sporty, I'd get kids trying to race me all the time.

All the time. It's thugs in dodge chargers around here, having to prove their ability to drive 80 in a 45mph zone. I get these "fly-bys" all the time, especially since I usually only drive 5 over, which is slow by Jacksonville standards.
Once it was actually a brand new Cayenne haha!

I was at a stop light recently with the top down. A middle aged guy pulls up in an old sedan, looks over at me says, "You want to go?". I said "Excuse me?". He says, "next, light you want to go?", and points to the next traffic light about a qtr mile down the road.
I asked him, "do YOU want to go?". He chuckles, shakes his head and says, "No. Not at all!"
To answer the OP's question, the answer is "all the time". With me, the other guy always wins.

I think everyone gets it from time to time. With all the newer cars coming out with some decent hp, they know that 0-60 times would be fairly matched on some of these "regular" vehicles. They know they have a fair chance and the payoff of stroking their ego is worth it to them. Now if you were driving a Turbo, that might make some think twice(at least the smart ones).
Evo and WRX's are pretty much not even worth trying as any competent driver will beat the Porsche everytime in a straight line to 60. Another surprise is the Hyundai Genesis 3.8. Don't underestimate those either...

I live in northern Louisiana and there aren't many competent high speed drivers or vehicles that can compete with a 14 year old Porsche. That said, a 24 year old girl in an SUV with a cell phone up to her ear looked my way then launched out of a green light with a big smile on her face. Another morning, some guy with a family sedan, loaded with family started revving his engine at a stop light then launched at the green. I have had a hundred of these experiences. I ignore 90 percent of them. I'm convinced most people just want to see a "power demo" from you more than they want to race. The only time I'll school someone is if they are in a ridiculous tuner car and they look like they have more of mommy and daddy's money than brain cells. I'll beat them to the speed limit then let them go.

Yep - quite often and sometimes it's the middle aged females that blow my mind. I no longer let it get to me and just go about my business. Whatever blows their skirt up is fine with me these days.

It's the tailgaters that get to me! Yahoo's in pickups usually...pull up about 2 inches off the bumper and all you can see out the rear view is GRILLE. Otherwise, I ignore anyone that wants a go at me, and they try all the time. My thinking is, they're driving a piece of crap and I'm enjoying my Porsche! Okay, I'm not that much of a snob..really. Plenty of decent cars on the road, but I'm partial to my 911.
