Default Rear window gasket

The rubber gasket around the rear window is coming loose and can be pulled out of its slot easily. Replace or is there a way to glue it into place?

Also, the Whiteout that the dealer used to conceal the paint chips is washing off. What does everyone use to touch up small chips?

Thanks!

This may give you a hint. I had a caravan big window needed replacing into rubber surround and the guy put full strength washing up liquid in the slot of the rubber to ease the glass into place. Just maybe he used the liquid to put the rubber into the metal slot beforehand but not sure. It seems like yours is the opposite so this trick may not help you. It's worth a try. Fully remove the glass and then the rubber separately. Then put liquid into the metal slot all round. Then ease the rubber into place. Then put liquid into the rubber along that slot where the glass enters. Then ease the window into place. I remember that he told me that was the easiest way to insert the glass. As far as gluing things in place, I do not think that is a good idea as one day you may need to replace a broken window. BTW he had two large rubber suction holders onto the glass for easier handling but it was four times larger than a rear window of a 996. Good luck. Give it a try.
I have no advice on the chippings on the paint work of the car. Sorry.

I hope I'm not looking at removing the entire rear window. It looks like the gasket just slips in and out.

Probably the trim gasket (there is also a sealing gasket).
996 545 545 01 trim gasket through MY01
996 545 545 02 trim gasket from MY02

Both around $85 US

I had this same issue and just ended up using silicone to attach the rubber trim on. It was embarrasing a few times when I would gun it and the rear trim started falling off.
