Default Pulled out cool carbon pads yesterday...

...and found that a couple of them had fractured and lost chunks of material. Pic coming soon. I was surprised to see them degrading in this fashion after an only-marginally run down from Big Bear a couple of weeks ago.

I had considered these. Will you be contacting them? How many miles on the pads?

Pics? How did you adjust to the "squeal"? When I used them on the track car, couple years back, they were some of the noisiest pads you could get.

I can't swear with absolute certainty that it's IMPOSSIBLE that I chipped the pads that were damaged. I say this not because I think I did, but because I don't want a visit from legal counsel.

On both pads where I saw this, the missing material was at the trailing edge of the pad. The car is equipped with Zimmerman drilled rotors, and all other brake components are stock. The area of damage is not large - maybe half a square inch on both pads - but I have never seen shedding like this unless a pad was worn down to the rivets. In this case, I think the pads were at least 60%, but I couldn't tolerate the squeal - it was bearable until the downhill run, and constant thereafter. I expected them to be VERY loud when they were hot - and they didn't disappoint - but the passenger rear corner just never quieted down again.

Stockish Mintex installed for now, and they are dead quiet without the sticky sound dampeners (which I did install with the Cool Carbon pads in hopes of keeping them tolerable).

The specific CC pads in question have been discontinued (that's why I bought 'em - fire sale price).

I have never used those pads and have no dog in this......but why state your pads are falling apart in the subject line and than fessup you bought these because they were discontinued? What model are they? Are they made for the type of driving you were doing?

I stated that they were discontinued because I didn't want to suggest that anyone purchasing CC pads today were going to wind up getting the same pads I pulled. I don't have any idea why they were discontinued, but my statement is meant to allay any concerns that CC pads you may purchase would be the same pads I installed.
