Expansion cap question
Happy New Year gents-
My car has a blue expansion cap on it that does hold pressure. I pre-emptively bought a serpentine belt and a new cap from one of my usual parts houses. (AutohausAZ)
The cap I got was black, and had specs written in German on it. I'm at work, so no picture of it...
Q- Every engine pic I see has a blue cap ( likely Porsche OEM) so is that the preferred cap?
Danke

Not necessarily....
I have removed a "blue cap" from a Porsche that says "VW" on it and the venting/release structure is very different.
I think for the price (usually under $20) it is best to stick with the latest Porsche cap.

Yeah- I assumed I would be getting a Porsche cap. I did get the Conti belt I wanted though.
I suppose I'll just keep the black cap for my emergency kit I keep in the boot.
I looked at Pelican and they advertise the Porsche blue cap-
lesson learned
