40th Jahre pricing #404
Hi all,
I don't think I can afford a 911 quite yet but I'm starting to look into them.
What would you say is a fair price for #404?

Obviously, I've looked at the normal sites (NADA, Edmunds, KBB) but it seems like the real sell prices are often different.
Bonus points:
Fair price for a 2002 6 speed with lower miles (such as this one)?

That's way too much for either one of those cars. I find that Park Place overprices their cars by about 20%, but it's not that surprising as they need a way to pay for their fancy showroom.... Proceed with caution just like you would with any other sale. At the end of the day they're the same as every other car dealer; they're there to make money. Case in point: http://www.parkplaceltd.com/used-car...tual_~Year_/25
I didn't realize that the $9,500 factory mk1 aero kit came with an mk2 wing and a normal mk1 front bumper. I wonder what kind of accidents this car has seen.....

Thanks for the responses. I'm not actually looking to buy from Park Place. They just consistently have cool cars so I like to browse their site.
Going off the +20% remark, #404 should be high ~$28k and the 02' should be ~$25?

Having recently purchased a 40th AE and doing a fair amount of shopping finding one, I don't think those prices you listed factoring the 20% discount above are accurate. Nice 40th AEs without high mileage are running in the mid 30Ks and northward. The 30K examples I've seen are are high mileage (+90k miles) or without clean titles.
Now your neighbor might have one he'll sell for 30K that's cherry but I'm talking about the ones I've seen advertised.

I agree...I think you can probably get a little more down from the list price, but I don't think it's way overpriced. Low mileage good examples of the 40th are still going for high 30s low 40s from what I've seen.

The price of this car w/o the warrenty makes me think the '02 Carrera at Park Place is really ~15% too high $$:
https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...-warranty.html
But it sounds like the 40 Jahre is fairly priced... I think if I had to justify high 30s I'd look for a 996TT?

My experience tells me you should expect to pay $35K+ for a one/two owner, well documented, no paint work AE.
They are out there!

High 30's will get you a TT, but it will be more headache than a similarly priced 40AE. The turbo IS a monster though. If you want the best bargain, a regular MKI or MKII C2 would be the best bet. I would say the 40AE package easily adds $5-7k. New the X51 option alone was $17k, not to mention the leather, the limited edition, special paint and wheels, etc. Theyre awesome no doubt but if you aren't really bent on an LSD and the power kit (I was) then the regular C2 would be a better value. And the MKI aeros are just gorgeous.

5k sounds great but it sounds like the base carrera I linked to would sell for 10k less than the 40 Jahre with more miles.
I didn't realize before that the LSD wasn't a standard on 911! That's pretty sad!
Anybody else think this car had some front end damage? Or is the frunk just not properly closed?

What does Targa do to the rear seat head room? (Yes, I actually think I can you those "seats" for my little one)

Not only is the LSD not standard, if it isn't a GT3 it isn't even an option on anything except '99 models with the throttle cable, and with 40AE models. Option code is 220 if you're looking at getting a '99 with the LSD. I think it was usually coupled with the traction control option.

So many modern cars don't have limited slips anymore, even BMW's too unless it's an M car. Not even an option on their regular cars after 1994. Really crazy and highly annoying, especially when the roads are less than perfect and when pushing in the dry.

I remember 220 from my 944 days but I though the 911 was "above" that being an option.
You're saying the only diff that "closes" in a 6TT is the center diff?
