Motor mount opinions needed!
My motor mounts are starting to show all of the signs of reaching the end of their useful life. I've researched/read everything I can find on the subject here and elsewhere, but I just can't decide. Stock OEM, RS,WEVO...? I have a 2000 C2 Cab, 77k, daily driver, very little track use, but very spirited driving when conditions permit. I actually enjoy a bit more "proper noise"(Fister D's, CAI on my car etc..., but I've heard of extra vibration noise when going from stock to one of the semi solid mounts. If anyone could expand on their experience, Cab. owners especially, I would greatly appreciate your input before I pull the trigger! Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the input Matt. I've heard it makes a world of difference, and I think I'm leaning in the semi solid direction, but what are the RSS mounts? I've only seen RS mounts on Suncoast and others.

So I've researched the RSS mounts and it looks like many are happy with the results, and the increased NVH "described" sounds like a by product I might embrace. My 996 puts a smile on my face every day, but ever since I got it I've been trying to lesson the isolation between car and driver that the factory felt necessary with the introduction of the 996. Now you all have me thinking about transmission mounts as well ! Damn this slippery slope!

We offer both Engine and Transmission mount upgrades that stiffen up the drivetrain connection points, leading to much improved handling and shifting!

I'm delighted with my WEVO semi-solid mounts. The install was easy, passenger-seat rattle is gone. Wheel hop when the rear tires are spinning is almost completely gone, whereas wheel hop with the stock mounts was awful.

+1 on the RSS mounts.
I upgraded mine last summer and I'd definitely recommend them. There is slightly but noticeably more engine noise in the cabin but I personally consider that a good thing. I can feel the engine a little better and am now a little more aware of the vibration at ~3K. But shifts are a little sharper and it feels a little less sloppy in corners. A little less civilized and a little more like I'd expect a 911 to feel. But a big part of that was likely just comparing against old, worn mounts.

I have Porsche 993 RS motor mounts on my 2005 GT3 for about 8 years now, and am very happy with them. There are NO noises, vibrations or increased harshness. The benefits are more stable rear end during cornering but most notably shifting is a LOT smoother. Of course I cannot say that these attributes would be detectable, at least to the same extent, in a cabriolet.

Thanks for all of the input gents. RSS mounts are on their way, and I'll certainly post my personal experience with the switch over for any others considering this mod. I'm now wondering if I should fortify the transmission mount while I'm in there. I've just noticed that the overall feel of my car has gotten a bit..."sloppy" in the past year. Approaching 78k soon, I guess I'm going to have to start thinking about some suspension overhauling as well.
