Default Hershey, Part 1

I just got home after a trip to visit my Mom and Dad, with a side trip to the Hershey Swap meet. The first road trip of the year ... about 700 miles of driving over three days. I took a point-and-shoot camera with me to the swap meet and snapped a few pics.

Pulling into the parking lot is fun ... I felt very safe leaving my car here:

The first thing you notice ... cars are commonplace here that would draw a crowd almost anywhere else:

I even saw another Mirage 996 Cab -- the only other one I've ever seen, outside of a couple "for sale" ads on-line:

The KoB-mobile, at home with its brethren:

Some of the cars in the parking lot reminded me of man's incredible creatvitity when it comes to getting stuff approved by the DMV for street use. Like this:

And this:

And especially this:

Default Hershey, Part 2

Of course, there are cars for sale. It's a good thing that I can't fit in a 356, because there were some nice ones, although I guess you can't see so much of this one:

I couldn't tell if anyone wanted to buy this 911, or if the offers were coming in on the trailer:

Of course, there were several project cars for sale, also:

This guy seems to be wondering, "If I buy this, will she make me sleep in the garage?"

The sign on the trailer may explain where this car came from:

Default Hershey, Part 3

It seemed like there were track cars all over the place ... which is fine with me:

I swear, just looking at this car and thinking about g forces made my neck hurt:

As far as I could tell, this car is entirely comprised of Stuff That Makes It Go and Stuff That Makes It Stop:

Rennline had plenty of automotive eye candy at their booth:

Default Hershey, Part 4

In the "WTF?" category, there was a Karmann Ghia Boxster, or maybe it's a Karmann Boxster Ghia, or ... hell, I have no idea:

And, my favorite Parking Lot Attraction ... the LS6-powered 914. 525 crank HP in a 2500 pound package. My pictures really don't do it justice, as everywhere you look there are custom fabricated parts. And any time they fired it up, they drew a crowd:

All in all, it was a fun day wandering around, looking at cars, and chatting with the similarly afflicted. Not a bad way to spend a sunny Saturday.

Saturday was a beautiful day at the Hershey Swap Meet. Lots of Porsches and spectators made for a very unique experience.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by the Function-First booth to chat and check out the products we had on display!

And for anyone skeptical about using your Porsche as a daily driver, the entire booth fit in my 996 - canopy, table, and all!

Were there many 996 parts and vendors at the swap meet?

I agree with that. My dad commented several times how amazed be was at the variety. He was amazed that he didn't feel like he saw the same car twice.

I was surprised there weren't more 991s around. Tons of 944s and 928s. Veeeeery few Cayennes which isn't all that surprising given that soccer games are on Saturdays. Good number of boxters and caymans but the majority if the cars were 911s.
