New generation of Porsche snobs

I actually get more waves from fellow 911 owners than I do with the Boxster owners..even aircooled guys give the wave. It seems 997s are hit or miss but 991 owners seem to be oblivious and can't see past there nose because it's so high up in the air!

I give a wave to all Porsches from 911's to 924's. If they choose to wave back or not fine. When I was a teen driving my Healeys and Triumphs back in the early 70's all sports cars drivers waved to each other. My first days driving around in my 996 a guy in a very tired looking Jaguar XK120 gave me the thumbs up.

So many Porsche owners haven't a clue about responding to the 'wave'. Most are not even forum members or hard core enthusiasts. We all waved when my only car was a bug-eye sprite and you passed another English car, it was expected.

So this is interesting to me. I have owned a 924 before, I know the poor mans Porsche, great car and it is responsible for my Pcar addiction.
With that said I didn't know that it was a thing to waive at other Pcar owners. I also ride a bike and here in the south all nikes pretty much wave.

I wave at all Porsches that aren't SUVs. Soccer moms on the phone aren't going to wave back.
I definitely will wave at someone driving any 30-40 year old Porsche. I'll even start up a conversation in a parking lot. It isn't easy keeping an old car going.

Meh, no surprise. New owners don't get it, some chick in a Boxster is just going to think you're trying to hit on her, and the 35-year-old who just dropped more on his new 911 than I spent on my first house is WAAAAY too cool to wave at anyone in a 10-15 year old car.
I like driving the 911 more than the Corvette, but Corvette owners are all about "the wave." It's kind of fun, and it doesn't matter if you're driving a beater C3 or C4 or a brand-new C7 or some monster C6. They almost all wave.

I got just one wave from another 996 owner in a Coupe in my way to Orlando, I had another 996 same color, cabrio I wave the guy he was looking at me like, what the f@%! I was doing, I feel so traumatized I stop waiving, there are lots of 991 around my area, driving mostly from women, If I wave they may call the cops or sue me for harassment. Well this is South Florida!!!

Three Wheelin'
Porsches are relatively uncommon here (not counting Cayennes.) I always wave (not counting Cayennes), and 90% of the time I get a wave or light flash in return.

Picked this thread up from "New Post" and man you guys are tough on the 997 owners...LOL
I own a 997.2 and I wave all the friggin time and get nothing back regardless of the model...I know there are PCAR enthusiast here in Tampa FL but I have not seen any on the road yet???
I aslo know the wave was a Corvette thing when I owned mine...are you saying that waving is a Porsche thing also...with the lack of response I have been getting I thought maybe I was supposed to be doing somehting different like flashing my lights???

No wave, but this did happen last Saturday. I was at a light and across the way was a black/orange GT3RS. He goes south and was turning that direction. He could have made the right hand turn but waited for the light to turn green first. I had to wait for some oncoming traffic but he was waiting for me, driving at the speed limit so I could catch up (probably the first time that's happened). I caught up at the next stop light and he was already rolling down his window. We chatted at the light for a minute, then both took off. As soon as we hit the freeway, I went east and he went west. Since I was again at a light I got to see that GT3RS take off up the on ramp. I guarantee you that this time he was not going the speed limit!

If I'm in my '84 Carrera and see another air cooled car on the road (relatively rare occurrence), I'll usually give a hand out the window, or peace sign, or similar.
When I'm in the 996 and see an air cooled 911, I don't even bother because I know they think I'M a poser and think I'M driving something beneath their charmed air cooled 911.
When I'm in either car and pass another newer Porsche, I usually look over, but almost NEVER see anything but the straight ahead stare, so I just drive on by typically.
I think most of these drivers really like their cars, but they're not "enthusiasts" per se. Nor do they need to be.
