No doubt - the first picture looks like you're a witness, not a participant.

Did the other driver's airbags pop? That thing looks like a write-off for sure...

Yeah the Chrysler's air bag went off, she was pretty shaken up bot OK.
The airbags in mine didn't but it was a rear impact but the roll hoops popped up.

True that it can be a pain in the ****, but coming up with that extra 2 grand can make a difference when it comes to buying the replacement.

A lot of people refuse to sell cars private-party for the same reason - it's a hassle - but walking away from money is something I'm not so good at. Parting out is almost like getting paid to break stuff...my dream job.

Yeah if its written off, pretty sure it will be if they set a sensible price I will break her up but time is always my issue may be pay a intern to do it that sucks because I would enjoy doing it.

My bet is that people in this section would likely buy back to part out.

Considering the overall value of the 996 and the value of the drivetrain and other miscellaneous pieces, it would be hard to pass up buying a 911 back for around $5k and parting it out, or pulling the driveline and selling the shell, or just selling the entire damaged car for a profit.

I don't know the value of gold coins, but you could easily get $10k out of parting a 996.

Yup - especially if you have a common interior color, aero, and Litronics. Aero and litronics alone are worth buying the car and then scrapping it if you don't want to part out every bit and bolt.

Hi, Finally agreed a settlement with the insurance co. Decided not to buy it back they wanted $6,500 which is certainly fair and profit to be had but I don't have the time to deal with it.
The sad and exciting news is I'll be Porsche less for the next year or so, I've just agreed the purchase of a 2010 Jaguar XKR working on getting it shipped from sunny CA to less than sunny MI.
I plan to find a cheap C4 next year for winter driving and fun.
