I'm a big 4S fan, but if money is no object. I would have gotten a turbo!

If money is no object, you need both. Turbo is a turbo but there's nothing like a sweet free revving NA flat 6 engine.

I began my search with the 4s, and quickly realized the turbo is the way to go. Just watch the top gear review and see what Jeremy had to say about it, quite entertaining.

^^^ this

For me at least, it was not a matter of price. I just prefer my 911's NA...love that distinct metallic sound . The turbo definitely has it's own awesome wail as well...but I already have 2 very fast twin turbo Audi's so even tho I'm nuts..I'm not a masochist.

One other consideration is that with a NA 911, there is no room to go nuts with power mods. With the Turbo... the koolaid is crazy tempting to go big power with hybrid KKK swaps, fueling, etc...then at that point, it's basically a straight line car that you've got a ton of money in which you'll most likely not get back when it's time to sell it .

In the end , to the original poster , drive both as many times as you can . Go with your gut . One will hit your DNA just the right way . Stay away from Porsche forums while you're deliberating .

In addition to the fun factor, the Turbo is probably a good investment longer term. Check out this discussion on Drive about best values in classic cars.

There's really no choice at all - the Turbo with the 993 derived motor is far more reliable than the standard 996 lump.

Too many "ordinary" 996s are having engine failures.

If you go turbo remember to warm it up carefully and when fully warmed ensure that you use full boost at least once every time as the actuators tend to seize..
