That's the correct size for those Carrera 2 wheels. I have the same wheels on my car.

After doing some research and listening to Dennis ( he is smarter than I) I was WRONG!

You currently have correct sizing for your car.

You need a higher aspect ratio at the front to give approximately the same overall tyre diameter due to difference in tyre widths.

How much do you pay for tires on average.

Thank you! Did the 996.2 come with a sticker that tells you the tire size? My 99 996 had one under the hood and this one doesn't

The sticker is on the inside of the fuel filler lid. Gives sizes and inflation specs for both 17" and 18". I think I paid around $1200+ for a set 18" Bridgestone N spec at tirerack.com

All depends on whether you want N spec or not.(runs for cover)

Bridgestone S04 sets are about 1100.That's my next set of tires. Prices go up from there.

Cool, I never paid attention to the inside of the filler for that information thanks!

Not quite. The fronts still have a significantly larger diameter (~0.4in)

225 40 18 diameter 25.1in revs 804 circumference 78.8in
285 30 18 diameter 24.7in revs 815 circumference 77.7in

I have no idea why Porsche didn't go with a slightly lower-profile tire in the front (225 35r18) in the front. Smaller diameter means that you can have a lower car with the same suspension travel. And given the choice I'd rather have a little more sidewall on the rear instead of the front given the weight distribution.
From my experience dropping from 19"s to 18"s I can say that 0.5" of suspension travel can make a significant difference.

0.4" on diameter gives a height difference of 0.2", makes no difference to the suspension travel and allows the AWD to work on the C4.

Sorry good point. I'm not sure how I missed that.

But 0.5" of suspension travel definitely makes a very noticeable difference on handling. I would still bet that 0.2" (with the same springs) would be slightly noticeable. I'll comment more on that in the future since I'm planning on dropping my car by ~1 thread in the near future.
