The porsche handles better and is more sporting, but that can't cure ugly.
the *** end of that car is a disaster.

Panamera is a disaster in design. You would think after all these years Porsche would have listened and changed the design. Pricing is through the roof and options list is like an encyclopedia.

Lots of different opinions...just another one. For me a car either looks right or it doesn't. The Maseratis, Coupe and 4 door all look like hookers from a Berlusconi Bonga Bonga party...which brings me to the Panamera. The car looks so heavy that at any moment it could sink into the earth.
Now the Audi A8L...which was also big but somehow looked like it could literally dance.

I have to agree with one of the first reviews that described the Panamera styling as a "911 at a pie eating contest". Sorry but it's true! For me? The first gen Quattroporte does it. Beautiful. Or the BMW E38 2001 740i.

We looked at the MB because we've owned several and have a great relationship with our dealer and tech. I agree it drives pretty well for what it is - but after driving a loaner Panamera we enjoyed the experience of a big car that handles darn close to a sports car but still has a comfy ride.
We are also loving the service from Sewickley Porsche. The MB dealer has always treated us like royalty but things are changing there. Since the debut of the CLA the dealership is like a factory. Can't keep cars in stock, and service appts (for most people) are 2 weeks out! We have been able to work our relationships for service whenever we need/want it - but we don't like to take advantage. Our MB-owning friends are frustrated with the service time line.
In addition - hubby has had some significant back surgeries that make him very sensitive to ride - much more so than most people. The MB was comfy for sure but he wanted a sportier driving car and the Panamera struck the balance. Not too stiff like the AMG cars and not too soft/floaty like the S class.
The service aspect was a big factor. Cars are easy to buy. Living with them is the challenge and the dealer makes/breaks the experience. We'll never again own a car that can't be serviced locally (unless we win a lottery which ain't gonna happen). We think we'll be very happy living with the Panamera. If the service is anything like what we've experienced with the Cayman R - it'll be a home run.
Time will tell but so far very happy with the car - and with tinted windows it looks even better. It may not win a beauty contest - but it has many redeeming qualities (to us anyway). The looks have grown on me - especially with the redesigned rear hatch. I also believe the car looks better in some colors (I prefer dark).
