I have a "cubby" just below my cassette storage unit It holds the charger when not plugged in, and the phone and usb charging wire while I'm driving. I don't check the phone until I reach my destination or a safe place to pull over and check messages.
No way I am bending over or dropping the soap in front of shim. When I had the iPhone 5 I put it in the drink holder but it is too small for my iPhone 6. I put my XM in the cubby so I will probably order a cubby to replace the CD box.
I put it in the lower cubby. It's close enough that I can hear the GPS if needed, and just out of reach of the gear shifter to ignore it if I see who is calling.
I got one of the Scosche magnet setups for about $30. Stuck the holder part up high on my dash and everything I get in the car I just put my phone there, works like a charm. I also swapped out my original Becker radio for a new Kenwood receiver so now I can use my phone via Bluetooth for phone, GPS, etc...
I usually wedge mine in the seam of the passenger seat. Othewise, between my legs on the driver's seat.
I've had a vasectomy - not worried about sperm count...
Ditto: I do the same thing; however, I was happy to see this thread because I have been keeping my eyes open for a device that I can secure my phone when I am driving. I listen to Pandora so it has to be close to me

Why do you still have the CD and/or Cassette storage thingy? Worthless waste of space. Get a replacement second cubby and swap it out in 30 seconds. Worth the time investment...
Where would I put my cassettes if I didn't have the holder?
^This^ Yup, I've actually still got some decent cassettes hanging around so why not? between them and 6 CD's I don't have to change them out any more than every few months or so...And God forbid I should listen to terrestrial radio!
