All joking aside - "drive it like a Porsche" means drive it like a car with the heritage of one of the world's original sports cars...a brand that only exists because no other car was good enough.

It has a rev limiter - don't be afraid to find it.

There are limits to the tires' adhesion - don't be afraid to find them - and know what to do when you exceed them.

Driving it like a Porsche means exceeding your limits so you can push the car to its limits.

"drive it like it should be driven", etc. I hear this kind of statements made all the time, but would like to understand what it means
Can mean very different things depending on who says it, i.e. Mezger-engine owners vs. others.

Right on. This is what I would believe it means. If I wasn't afraid of getting arrested for reckless driving, I'd follow this principle all the time.

Remember when you were banging that semi hot can't remember her name chick in that no name little **** town and her husband came home early? You bolted out of the 1st floor window half naked and jumped in your car only to realize he was right behind you waving his sheriffs badge in one hand and his semi automatic Glock in the other. You gunned your car and took off down the street praying to baby Jesus to let you get out of this hell hole with your dick intact? Adrenalin rushing, heavy breathing, hands still shaking you hit the interstate at a buck twenty and kept it at 5,500 rpms for the next 40 minutes.

That's how it was meant to be driven.!

Default My 2cents

Nearly all posts about "proper" warm ups seem to ignore the importance of allowing the gear box to fully warm before putting your foot down.

IMHO, thoroughly warming the entire power train before spirited driving is a "Best Practice". Doubters should inquire about how much a 996/7 gear box re-build can cost.

Once warmed up keep the revs at or above 2500 whenever reasonable. Don't get a complex about it, there's nothing you can do in stop and go traffic, but when the option presents itself let that engine breathe!

If you don't wind her up every once in a while you wasted your money.

(Applies equally to cars and women.)
