2000 996 temperature guage
I was recently in a minor accident and the damage was limited to the driver's fender and headlight. The radiator on that side was also damage and replaced by the body shop. When I picked up my car this morning, I noticed the temperature was ok, but the red light at the end of the gauge was off and on the entire ride (45 mins) to my house. Why is that light flashing What do I need to do to stop it from flashing?????

Take a look at this thread:

That light has multiple functions.

Job 1: Check the coolant level. I'm guessing they didn't properly evacuate the air from your cooling system, and driving the car lowered the coolant level enough to trigger the light.

Same thing happened to me when I got the water pump changed. After about 20 min of driving the light was on, checked the reservoir and it was empty. Had to fill, purge and fill a few times to get it evacuated and at the proper level.

I read the thread on 6speed and the last post indicated that the person that posted had purchased a new coolant level sensor. He never posted if that was the problem. The manual is no help either

I don't know where you're located in SoCal, but you're welcome to borrow my UView Airlift if you determine that the cooling system is full of air...

Thanks for the offer, but I sent an email to the insurance company for permission to take my car to a local Porsche shop to insure the work was done correctly. The body shop that did the work was fantastic but they are not Porsche mechanics, and they may not have installed the radiator correctly. If they approve, I will take it to TRE

Well, it doesn't hurt to have a professional look at it...but your question was why is the light flashing? If the coolant level is too low, the warning light flashes. Switch engine off and allow to cool. Add coolant. It is as simple as that. After that you should drive for awhile with the bleeder valve propped open.
In addition, this warning light flashes to indicate a fault in the engine compartment blower fan but that is probably not your issue.

Took the car to House Automotive in Pasadena, and they determined it was due to air in the system. They flushed it, then they took my left kidney and I drove away happy no flashing lights
