There is a little plunger that locks it, you can get a small flat blade screwdriver in there to push the plunger back. Unlock the car first.

Try the manual full filler release latch inside of the passenger side door.

Open the passenger door and inside the door jamb near the A pillar and up by the fuel filler door is an emergency cable to pull just for these types of situations. It's described better in the Owner's Manual (and there's a picture) - look in the index under "Emergency Operation - Tank Flap".

Thanks guys - I wound up dropping it of at the shop to have them do the cats and was worried about running out of gas if I got caught in traffic, but hey hooray for fuel economy. (BTW passed smog on the old cats after the computer reset, but still replacing as it threw codes several times last year and rattles like hell)

I knew there was a manual release in that area but just couldn't find it. Might have been seeing too much red. I'll try again when I pick it up just to be sure I'm just stupid or dumb and not plain crazy.

I'm pretty sure it's just the key battery, which must have died over the winter.

Lesson learned : drive your cars and don't let your Porsche live in Manhattan for a decade!
