Last night my 2001 C2 passed 100,000 miles.....

Bought in April 2009 with 52,000 miles....
Driven year round (blizzaks on 17in rims in winter)...
6 DEs on average per year...several autocrosses in between...
Driven to redline whenever possible....

So far, the 996 has been reliable, and taken everything I can throw at it....my twins (5 years old then, now 13 years old) have loved riding in it since I got it, and my daughter has claimed it when she turns 16 (we'll see about that, but she will definitely drive it...).

Here's a brief recap of her history since I got her...
98,963 miles
- replaced original stock motor mounts with Rennline tuneable (Red/Blue combo)
98,500 miles
- Replaced failed ignition switch
94,800 miles...replaced radiators
- driver's side radiator punctured, replaced both, and front hoses
90,600 miles...replaced fuel pump and level sender unit
- fuel pump failed......replaced both
89,600 miles preventive engine out service....
- Replaced IMS (dual row) with LNE bearing....old IMS was in great shape
- Replaced original waterpump (no issues with pump/fins)
- Replaced T-stat
- Replaced all belts
- Replaced idler pulleys (no play in them)
- Replaced Clutch...it had some life left, but since they were in there....
75000 miles.....suspension upgrade
- Bilstein performance shocks/struts
- H&R Racing Springs (1.5" drop)
- Replaced AOS
71,000 miles...replaced immobilizer
- Immobilizer failed...replaced with new along with two key heads...
56,000 miles...replaced alternator
- replaced alternator with new and all belts...
Oil changes every 5,000 miles with Mobil1 0W-40....

Everything else stock/original....

Thanks all! It has been a great car, and I still get a smile whenever I fire her up....and I happen to love the look of the fried egg headlights!!!

This forum has been a huge help in learning about the car, and taking on maintenance and repairs myself. I appreciate all of the knowledge and support from the community!

As for my daughter, she is definitely putting in the time to earn the car....helps me with repairs and track prep....helped change the motor mounts, and last month changed the brake pads for the track all on her own (supervised of course)....she was actually mad that I cleaned the radiators when she was at camp and didn't wait for her....she is also asking a lot of questions on shifting, power, and handling.....I am soooo proud!!!

Congrats. How has your rear seat wear been with kids riding in it for 7 years?

I've wondered about this as there are not too many long term sample data for this.

They were able to comfortably sitting back there until ~10 years old, after that (when they were ~5 feet tall), it was a bit too tight....they could suffer through short trips, but the last long (150+ mile) trip was when they were 11....it was their choice to take the 911 over the SUV for that weekend, so they couldn't complain..., although they did say never again....

Congratulations! You are enjoying your 911 as so many Porsche engineers hoped you would! I'm just starting this adventure with a "new to me" 05 996TT. I've got a summer of autocross and HPDE planned and I've already bought my winter wheels! I've got 45K more miles to go to celebrate your 100K!

I KNOW the key to these cars running properly and efficiently is to DRIVE THEM.

I now have 66,700 on my 2002 cab.
