Dyno Results 3-28-18
Running NASA TT and needed a Dyno (DynoJet). Wen to The 7's Racing at the Buttonwillow Racetrack in Buttonwillow, CA. Tom Dragoun and his wife Bette are always so kind and cordial, and they know what they are doing. I have video of the "event": Huge file.......Max HP 336, at 7,500 RPM, the 257 Ft Lbs of torque showed up at about 5000 RPM.
Ran the dyno in 5th gear 1:1....at 8,000 RPM the Dyno "driver" told me he saw 175 mph on the speedo, and then aRE SOME LONG GEARS.......good God, this car is a beast. Looks like I'll be in TT3 with NASA and M3 with POC.
NASA is great for mid-state (CA) guys like me, we can run Buttonwillow, 1:15 minutes away, and Sears Point, about 4 hours north, even Thunder Hill 6 hours north....then there is Laguna Seca, 1:30 with the POC, and to other Clubs....track heaven out here, run year round. And let's not forget Willow Springs, 3:30 from me.
I'll post the video as soon as I can figure out how to edit it down a bit.

That seems REAL low. Is the motor and exhaust completely stock? Most 996 GT3’s I’ve seen on Dynojets come in around 345-355 stock
I’m getting my dyno redone soon to run TT as well but I’m guessing based off the previous results my average HP number to be around 355-360 and peak to be above 370. That’s exhaust / filter / flash and nothing else
TT3 at the current 10:1 rule set is a pipe dream for me. If you can get into that group you should run at the front of that pack. I’m 100% certain my car is going to have to run TT2

I have seen specs of a stock 993 @ 3,050...will be on. the scales next week. I am hoping that using the NASA Avg HP Calculation, to get the HP down to 320??? Putting the calculator to the project tonight.

Your average could be as high as 330 and you would prob still be ok for 10:1 (TT3). I suspect you will see over 3300 on the scales (with driver) unless you are one of those 140lb jockey types.

I will see 3,300...I weigh about 250....am on a program to scale down, but I don't see me getting lower than 210, unless I am dead. Dead people lose weigh fairly rapidly, and they never have to worry about gaining a pound of in back!

I'm not far behind at 225 and also trying to get down to around 200...more for kart racing than the car stuff. My car has some weight taken out of it and is still > 3200 with me in it but unless my car has lost ALOT of power in the 4 years since it was last on the dyno there's no way I make TT3. Still going to go run time trials for the heck of it no matter what class I'm in.

That's it Carrara (Marble) White. With me at 336, you at 363, it's conceivable that the Cup exhaust would produce 27 HP..My torque at 257 is 16 Ft Lbs lower. The car is so much quicker than I am.....it's about the same weight dry as my 993, with 75 more HP, and more torque too. Daunting at times. I'd like it to be 100HP more, but it's not.
Truth be told, when you run a weight to HP class such as those offered at NASA, it's no so bad to have 336 to the rear wheels. And besides, getting a top finish is not easy, it may never be accomplished by me, running against some really fast, well prepared M3 cars.

I got a dyno done a while back (just after I got the car) and my numbers were what Andy mentioned (car was bone stock at the time, no flash, OEM exhaust/headers/etc). I never got a subsequent dyno with the Fabspeed muffler bypass, but I suspect it didn't change much. Mustang Dyno: 368/287 @ ~7300 RPM.

Every dyno is a little different so take these numbers for what they are, my car made 364 / 283 in the middle of a thunderstorm with really horrible air. I’d like to think it would have made 370 in better air but I got what I needed.
I didn’t realize how much the new average HP calculation actually helps our cars. It’s intent was to level the playing field with turbo cars that have broad flat power curves. My average HP was only 342. Still puts me adding weight to the car for TT3 which I don’t want to do so I’ll go play in TT2 as planned

The Buttonwillow dyno is notoriously low and a reason we do not recommend using it for POC classification. The POC reference dynos - MCE Dynoject 224 and the Vision Dynojet 248 - are very close to one another and significantly higher than BW (as are most/all other Dynojets). If you use the BW dyno and are protested you and setting yourself up for a potential DQ.
Cheers,
