Sean Introduction
I wanted to properly introduce myself. I have been reading the 996 GT3 section for about a year. I finally found a car in January, a 2004 Silver GT3 with 40,000 miles. My intended purpose is track / street. I am an average driver and run Intermediate group mostly. The car I bought is well set up for DE track events: Euro buckets, DAS roll-bar, harnesses, Guards LSD, two sets of wheels, Giro disc rotors, some upgraded suspension components, and Fabspeed CATS and mufflers. I just had the coolant lines welded, the LWFW, pulley, and clutch installed, 997.2 GT3 shifter, Numeric cables, and new motor mounts (RSS) and transmission mounts (went Cantrell). Overall, the car is a good, clean driver.
I have learned a significant amount over the past year. This forum is a real service, thanks for all of your help. I look forward to reading more and contributing where I can. Thanks.

Congrats. That's an interesting nose you have there. Do you know who makes it? I don't think I've seen it before.
I just looked again and they are dive planes. Haha. Mind was playing tricks on me.

Nice looking car and good to see you are using it as intended. What tracks do people hit up in the Chicagoland area? My wife is from there and we’ll be moving back there in the next couple of years so hoping there are some decent road courses in the vicinity!

Tracks:
1). Road America. Awesome, historical track. Long, over four miles. One of the best in the USA.
2). Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. A private club that has many track days for Clubs. Great facilities and a good track.
3). Blackhawk Farms. Smaller track near Rockford IL. Fun for a day, but not a destination track by any means.
4). Putnam Park in Indiana, west of Indianapolis. Smaller track, but fun and very good for momentum cars.
5). Gingerman in SW Michigan. I have not been.
6). Gratten near Grand Rapids in Michigan. I went once a long time ago. At that time, the facilities were fair. A few very fun and interesting turns.
7). Mid-Ohio, but its six-seven hours or so from Chicago.
8). Brainard in Minnesota. I have not been. Good reputation.
9). Gateway Park near St Louis. Run 1/2 the NASCAR oval and then small road course in the middle. Fun for a weekend.
So, four or five within a reasonable drive from Chicagoland. Road America is just great. That part of Wisconsin is beautiful, the people are friendly, good facilities, and nice places to stay. And it oozes history.
