I was driving yesterday when I spotted what I thought was a GT3. I drove up to see and it was an older 996 with an aero kit. It got me thinking why Porsche would have a great car like the GT3 look just like a $35K 1999 996.
The GT2 has a couple of features to distinguish it from the 996 TT why would the GT3 not have something to distinguish it from the NA 996.
I really love the GT3 and we all know there is no comparison between that and the 996 but the look is one thing that has kept me away.
Just wondering if anyone feels the same?

And for the people that do know enough about 911s to know that a 911 is actually $70K, almost all of them know that a GT3 is a $100K car. So you're really talking about, IMHO, less than 1% of the people that would see a GT3 and think it was a $70 996 C2. What do you guys think?

I thought the best feature of the GT3 would be its stealth but in reality it seems to have a definite presence at every traffic light or on the highway. Something about the way the motor revs. and the wicked stance. I am seriously considering debadging it at this point, but I doubt it would help.
Anyhow, a ***** cat looks like a tiger cub but there is a beast waiting inside one of them.

Rgds,
Rgds,
If I was blessed enough to own a GT3, I wouldn't have said it any better.

But, as the others have pointed out, that means little to me also. I bought it for the driving experience.
When I see a poser, I don't get upset. I usually laugh and then I feel sorry for them.

You know the 911R looks just like a regular 911, except for some very suttle differences.
The 92 Carrera cup car looks exactly like a normal C2 except for the lowered stance.
The Carrera GS again looks like a normal 356 except for the engine lid louvers.
I see it as pedigree
While i don't have a gt-3 My car has the Aero Kit I - hopefully i'm not a poser. I d like the aero kits (both)
it does not have any badging btw.
my 2 cents - YMMV

Should the GT3 be more distinguishable from the 996 like the GT2 is from the 996 TT?

Nope - not representing (in Fab talk) - hate badges anyway.....
and i always clarify i don't have a GT-3(or 2) on the "list"
A cup car kinda counts - i guess - maybe
geez i have a little more dialed in that (camber) - a little darty for my wife (she is driving it tonight, while i' stuck in sunny florida)

It sure pissed off alot of 996 owners replying to the "How do you like your Boxster ?" inquiries !
