A person selling can ask whatever they want for their car. That is not the price they will get. There are several on ebay from reputable dealers with buy it now prices in the mid $80's. Ebay will give you a more realistic view of what vehicles are selling for not what people are asking for their car in the classified section. Most have not been selling in the mid $80's. I see a lot of GT3's sitting around with very low miles.
Your dealer is getting much higher than average prices.

Here are a few I found on ebay. The first two have a buy it now price around $88K. The last one, my favorite - love the color has no bids with no reserve at $90K. This has only 2400 miles and a sticker of $120K.

Do you guys think a silver/black 2004 GT 3 with only 800 street miles and steel brakes lightly optioned is a good value at $95k? This car is supposedly perfect. Is the factory warranty automatically transferrable if purchased from a private party? thanks..

weston 98,

factory goes with the car, not the owner. as long as the car is less than 4yrs old or less than 50k miles whichever occurs first. so yes, this car is covered.

however, if the car is lightly options, it would have stickered at 105ish. so IMHO 95k isn't a good value despite low mileage. 85k-90k is where the mkt is at.

Thanks John. I guess if I could get the price down a few grand then we are in the general market. Then again if the car is perfect, what's a couple of grand when you think of it. I appreciate the insight...

Clarkson doesn't really know much about performance driving. He just likes to make ill researched pronouncements that add drama to his shows. Not that I have a problem with that, but one needs to take his comments with a large pinch of salt.

You can't get a 997S and go as fast as a GT3 on track. Some ring times to support my point :

John

I commute in mine from south county to San Jose at least once a week.
I find the car very docile in traffic and comfortable to drive.

But then my car is bone stock.

i bet you would take your XC90 over GT3 in downtown SF.

Me too. The cost of ownership is much less that way.

i almost fooled myself that way.
i kept buying and not selling, then suddenly i ran out of places to park. i park at my garage, my sister's garage, and friend garage. ugh

because 'ring times are suspect and as meaningful as you want to make them. i've found published 'ring times on five different sites (u.k., italian, german, et al) that has different times for the same cars.

i also think the "bat" is slower than that.

I am curious, from what I've seen a used GT3 is going for about $85K. Compared to a 99.5K new cost, that's about 15 percent depreciation. That's not bad in my book. If someone bloats a GT3 with 30K worth of cosmetic options, well you had to know that you'd never get your money out when you bought them. It's like this on every car and moreso on a GT3 destined for hard core drivers.

Am I missing something?

Rgds,
