GOOD OLE USDT... ****
No RS, No Clubsport in US according to PCNA about 3 weeks ago.
I was in Atlanta asking specific questions.
I was also told no plans for GT2 (but I was afraid to even mention this)

If we get the RS, we won't get the plastic rear windows and rollcage.
We can still get the aluminum doors, no side airbags, CF hood, CF seats, center console TV eliminated, optional no cost A/C, no PASM, no TC, wide body (honestly it looks better), CF spoiler, closer ratio tranny, stronger LSD, choice of special colors, no variable steering ratio, optional no cost radio, no headlight washers, no glovebox, CF airbox, 380mm PCCB, etc. These changes alone will be enough to bring the weigth down 200 lbs.
It will be easy to add the factory cage and plastic windows after purchase.

Guess the RS will get a LWF as there is no mention of this on the UK version of the site clubsport area.

few observations on that photo:
- the 5mm spacers installed on the rear 12" wheels could have been eliminated, making a wheel on the correct offset and reducing unsprung weight.
- the space formely taken by the mufflers is now empty, the airflow through that space helps to cool down the engine heads, and it moves out through those vents. The shape on those vents increase rear downforce from the air flowing from the engine compartment and the air flowing outside the car.
- The twin ram air scoops increase the intake air pressure at speed.

NJ-GT: That would be a great car.Porsche will not sell that in the USA. I have a friend moving to Germany. We are transfering him for work. I can see if he is hiring. Only the rest of the world will be getting the other versions of GT3. USA gets what is no the site nothing more.

Hey- Anyone speak German?
Go to http://www.porsche.com/germany/ navigat to "car configurator">"911">"GT3"
The German website has lots of information here. I have been going nuts cutting and pasting into Bablefish.
One thing I translated is: "Kofferraumdeckel aus Aluminium and Türen aus Aluminium"
Translation: "Aluminum Doors and Trunk lid" !!!!
I also found that a sunroof is an option. The Nav system is not standard.
There is no mention that the Sport Chrono does anything to change the horsepower or throttle response in the extended description.
I could not translate some of the Carbon options but there is one at Euro 2378 that might be the Carbon seats.

This is not 997 envy...and I'll apologize to those who love the new car but....one of the reasons I fell in love with the 996 GT3 was the return to the simple yet elegant lines of the early 911's...sure it's water cooled (I was sure glad it was....running at BW in 100 degree heat) but the lines generate the same response in me that the early cars did and I just don't feel any of that with the new car...guess I'm just old fashioned...maybe it will grow on me...let the flames begin....

GT3 RS is coming.
Stopped by my dealer today and the General Manager showed me the email from Porsche on the RS:
WideBody
Plexi windows
no sunroof
2008 model year
$126K
only 650 or so coming to US
Apparently he has to "call Porsche in Germany Monday morning" to let them know about a potential order. So maybe Porsche is weighing interest in this before committing? Anyway, I am #1 on the list!
