Is that an absolute value from Porsche, or someone subtracting 7 seconds from the 996 time as per that quote that has been going around in all the mags?

There's something *really* wrong with the whole concept of comparing Ring times if the 997 GT3 is putting up essentially the same times as the CGT.

There are several Carrera Gt time, with most of them several seconds faster.

Just remember a street legal radical went round in 6:55, with a driver who had a less than deep knowledge of the track. It cost less than a replacement door for a CGT (almost).
Quite a lot of the times above are fabricated.

I found these times on another website.

997 GT3 at 7.39 on R rated tires (comes with them optional, so I'm sure they were used on this run)
997 TT at 7.40 on R rated tires
C6 Z06 at 7.42.9 on Z rated tires
997 TT at 7.49 on Z rated tires

Nordschleife. I love your posts, especially this one: “Quite a lot of the times above are fabricated.”

Here is a table of Ring times. Don't you find it interesting that:

The 996 GT3 is faster around the Ring than Ferrari and Lamborghini’s finest (F430 and Gallardo) even though they are the same weight and the 996 is some 100 hp down. And belongs to an older model generation.

Same for 996 GT3 versus the Challenge Stradale. Less power, much heavier but still quicker !!!

Or for the 997S, 135 hp down from the F430/Gallardo, way down on acceleration too, but just 3 seconds slower.

Wonder if you wish to expand your previous comment...

Avoyvoda,

The 360CS reportedly had 420HP but in reality it had not much more over 400. If you don't already know, Ferrari is notorious for over extending themselves.
It is the reason that if you go to any track day sponsored by FCA (Ferrari Club of America) Ferrari does not allow Ferrari's to run in a group with non-ferrari cars, they MUST run ONLY with other Ferraris or Maseratis.

Also when Chris Harris from Autocar, wanted to compare a GT3RS to a 360CS, Ferrari would not provide a car. Autocar did find an owner of a 360CS to donate a car for use in the test but Ferrari found out and threatened to ban the owner from purchasing a Ferrari ever again if he allowed Autocar to use his car in the comparison test.

A lot of mistatements here. I have seen a number of dyno results on the 430 showing it is somewhat UNDERrated by Ferrari. And the local FCA region co-runs events with Trackmasters and most certainly does NOT require Ferrari-only classes.
