This time it happened at different location. Just replaced one 3 weeks ago. Anyone know any aftermarket hoses? Does Samco make any applications for 996 GT3s? I was having so much fun (friend was riding with me and recording the laps and average of 1:48 per session; 1:41 being fastest; everything stock) then car created a total mess leaving one spec S2000 spun 180. Pretty close call for Ferrari F430 and 996 TT too.

I will post the part numbers again after I get her back from the dealer. It was the rubber hose that come out of coolant retainer overfill. You can barely see it in the picture. Also, the pressure release valve (a black cap on top of blue cap in the picture) also sprayed all the coolant over the engine.

It was a different coolant house. The one that connects to the overflow broke.

not sure if the issue is related, but this happened on my track boxster. it turned out the factory hose clamps weren't doing the job. replaced w/ screw type clamps and all is well.

recall? is this an epidemic amongst the gt3 line? not sure that makes a whole lot of sense.

This seems like a rare (but not isolated) event. I've only heard of this problem once or twice and in the past I thought it was postulated to be related to muffler heat or something like that. Perhaps a good reason to run with bypass pipes and keep the heat out of the engine compartment

Is is failing at the connectors or the hose itself is failing? If you are using the plastic stock connectors, that is a known failure. Replace with the metal quick disconnects that the track guys use.

Went to dealer to check out my baby. Saw people pushing around parking lot. Then saw a big sign on her "Do Not Start" on the wind shield. Car is still at the dealer since Monday (5 days now) and promised to get it done by Tuesday next week. They said this time it's the metal coolant line that is underneath the engine. I have no idea what it is. Will post the part number once I get the invoice. Also, service adviser keep asking me whether I tracked my car. What can he do if I say yes? He can just basically look at the edges of tires and figure it out.

I agree (+100) with Dell... Tell them you drive it hard on the street. Better yet, find another dealer. I used to live in Balitmore, and know the DC area... I can think of 3 dealers between W. MD & No. VA, and that list grows to 5 or 6 if you expand the radius. Rationalize when the car comes out a warranty, and spend the added "commute" time finding a dealer friendly to motorsports... Believe me, it is worth it.

(Thank god both of the dealers in UT sponsor track days... Makes life easier for me!)

The dealer gods got even with me yesterday.... I blew a coolant hose at the track, and it was the bypass hose on the right side of the enginer (hidden like yours). My mechanic was at the track and helped me diagnose the issue. He noted that the hose was very soft, meaning that it was ripe for failure, so recommended that I replace the other bypass hoses on the other side as well. Rather than push this through the dealer, I'll juts pay The $250 out of pocket and know it is done right....

After 14 DEs, this is my first ever problem at the track. Kinda bummed me out as it happened during the morning sessions.
