I'm torn between....
Heres the deal. I'm 50 now and I guess they call it your mid life crisis.I own my own business.I've always wanted a 911 as far back as I can remember. Now when I am able to afford such a beauty, I find I'm second guessing as to the real needs of my transportation. I have a G35 sedan that has five payments left on it. My wife of 28 years drives it. I drive my much beloved 99' Jeep wrangler Sahara.(paid for) Both were bought new off the show room floor. I also pay for my 21 year old daughters 03' Jeep liberty and the insurance. (god don't get me started on insurance) On top of that she is a junior in college at USF and you guessed it, dad pays for her education also. With a 13 year old daughter right behind her that will be in college in about 6 years. Not to mention the possible upcoming oldest saying I want to get married and the fact I'm footing the bill so she can go to Paris this spring to study Art for a month. The house and you know the rest of the stuff. Whew! The fact is I live out in the burbs and my Jeep has been the work horse for my house. I hate like hell to buy another SUV or truck, but the Cayenne is looking more and more like the practical choice. After all it is a Porsche. My good decisions is what got me to where I am now in life, but now I find myself wondering if now I'm being selfish. Perhaps a little give and take from the Cayenne forum will help me, but Geesus.. I've wanted the 911 so bad for so long. Can you guy help clear my head?

Get yourself a nice inexpensive 2002 Carrera and savor the 911 experience. You are on the GT3 forums and they are G R E A T 911's, but the Carrera will serve the purpose you desire and let you have plenty of coin left over so you dont feel selfish.

Hahaha. Good one. My advice is this: if you are 50 don't even hesitate. I am 38 and almost die for 2 times in a row this year. I have been paralyzed on my whole body for 3 months. Nice, hu? Carpe diem and go get the 911.

don't wait man.
my dad bought the vette listed in my avatar new in 2000 at 52. He was dead 3 years later. My mom was pissed at the time but is happy he had an opportunity to buy something he always wanted.
Your daughter needs to be weaned from your teat. Nothing like a part time job doing ****ty work to appreciate how good things really are.

If it does not work out, you can sell it and you will all the better for having done it... less some $$$ but not a lot...

Grrr, another Florida SUV owner!Hey, I am 52 and have seen enough of my friends and family die (going to another funeral today). Seize life by the ***** and get something you want before you find that you are flat on your back and say would have, could have, should have.
Get a Cab 911 and enjoy open top driving and live a little. You will be a better and happier person for it and those around you will be happier, too.
Forget the Cheyanne. We just don't get enough snow.
Buy a beater Honda Pilot if you need cargo space and buy that 911. Time is slipping away.What's your budget, anyway?

Since you posted this question on the GT2/GT3 forum, is the "911" you want will be the highest form of 911?
The real question is how you can budget a about $80K (the most) for a 996 GT3.
One last thing though, you really got your life priorities straight. Very admirable.

You said you wanted a 911, but are now considering a cayenne?
A cayenne is a very different car, it is an SUV with a Porsche badge. If owning a Porsche is what you want, I suppose it works, but it will certainly not be the driving experience that a 911/GT delivers.
