i noticed GT2 owners felt the most uncomforable on this thread. sorry.

i understand and know the concept of the GT2, which is WHY i asked for the possibilty of all wheel drive as advertized by an individual, NOT ME.

my posts are my research on this topic.

you better find a new place to do your research....wherever you got the notion that the GT2 motor is based on the GT3 motor forget it...the GT2 motor and the GT3 motor are BOTH based on the racing GT1 motor...the only similarity is they are both dry sump and 3.6 liters...I'm sure they share some lightweight parts but if you tried to twin turbo the NA GT3 high compression motor you would have parts all over the ground....good luck

FVD in Germany has actually managed to Turbo charge a GT3. I have been in that car and it was insane, pulling like a monster at 350 km/h! But that's a different story...................

Ciao,

J.

I'm sure they reduced compression...reliability would become a real issue if not

You could JUST get away with it at around 7psi max.... assuming excellent intercooling etc...

to add, X50 package doesn't make your turbo a GT2, what ROT! It adds a little power, 50hp I believe...... Geez......

+1. lol But, X50 turbos are same as GT2 tho. The K24s.

There is at least one 996 GT3 with the turbo or a supercharger. I've seen it in the magazine. It's in Arizona and white color.

Wasn't there a guy in New Mexico (?) that had a turbo charged (maybe SC'd) GT3 that was a feature in Excellence recently????

that is what i was looking for.
Dry sump and displacment of 3.6 litres. I know some parts have the same material used, but yes compression and various other items have been devloped specificically for forced induction and thus lower compression too. Thats a given. I didnt assume a turbo was just bolted on if thats what you thought i was saying.
Both GT2 and GT3 have derived from the GT1.
And im aware they are all different. But the GT motor series are all serious motors based on the same high tech race technology/parts $$ when compared to street sister carrera motors.

so to clear the thread, it is known amongst porsche people that porsche did not allow a 996 GT2 out the door with all-wheel drive.

Nor a 996 turbo with a GT2 drivetrain.

EVO: I was at the shop when the engine was out. The tech said the owner got beat in a street race on the freeway by a SC mustang and could not have that happen again so.
