Have you weighed the two to compare? The new RS ones look much heavier and beefier. Would be interesting to know!

How do the 6RS parts compare to the 6cup and 7gt3 parts and what is better and interchangable?

It is not worth it to install the 996 GT3 RS suspension parts with the 997 GT3 parts already out. The 997 GT3 parts have even better geometry compared to the 996 GT3 RS.

The 996 Cup came with shared subframes and uprights with the 996 GT3. The 996 GT3 RS uprights were installed in the 2004 GT3 RSR but never in the Cup. The 996 Cup comes with rubber bushings in plenty of places.

One of the improvements with the 997 GT3 suspension is that the trailing arm uses a solid bushing. However, this is a cheap mod from ERP Racing (less than $200) for any 996 GT3.

Subframes, all the control arms, uprights, springs, shocks, tops, everything is interchangeable between 996/997 GT3/GT3 RS/Cup.

However, you should change it as a system, with the exception of struts/springs/tops. I mean use the control arms for a 997 with uprights and subframes from a 997. Mixing is at your own risk.

But why use 997 GT3 / 997 GT3 RS parts, when you can use 997 GT2 parts?

The 997 GT3 and 997 GT3 RS share all the suspension components, with the exception of shocks/springs (per my PET).

The 997 GT2 has the latest suspension development, with a custom set of springs and shocks, plus solid bushings and monoballs, that's as good as you can get for a decent price. Or you can use 997 RSR parts, but they're freaking expensive, the control arms with monoballs are selling for $1,700 each (you need four) last time I checked.

It has transformed the car, the car is super low, even at this height the suspension is now in more correct geometry than with the stock stuff at normal ride height. Note the position of the front calipers rotated down towards the bottom. The car is almost perfect with all factory CS parts, A/C delete, and Radio Delete.

I assume that is a clubsport cage?
Did you buy the factory porsche cage mounts?

what was you approx cost for the cage and mounts before install?

I wish to do the same.

wow - interested. And beautiful.

Guys, I have a very naive question :
I never drove any race 996 or 997 P-car. What's the gap between a 993R and a 996R (compared, let's say, to the gap between the older 964R and 993R)? Is the gap also sensible between the 996R and 997R ?

Thanks

The cage is about $3K US before installed. The car doesnt have mounting provisions. Yes the 997 stuff is even better yet. When I looked at it the 997 uprights had a few extra embossings ext.... I went with the 996RS parts because I new they would work and the price difference is the same either way you go. Yes the 996CUP does not have the goodies found on the 996RS.

Interesting thread. Those uprights do look beefier. Now I'm curious on how different they are on 7GT2 and 7RS.

Very nice car, btw. Do you think it is worth to upgrade those uprights along with Manthey's KW V3 kit or just monoball parts are enough? Thanks.

I think by the time you have all the parts including the revised RS shocks and springs its about $9,000 in parts.
So, all the highlighted parts are needed for the uprights install? Wow!
