Default This photo of GT3 has me concerned

Someone took this photo of my car last weekend and the fact the splitter is almost on the ground is of concern. Should I be?

Facts: 2004 GT3, stock bilsteins, stock springs, stock tire sizes. Cup splitter (rides a little lower than stock splitter). Speed coming down from appx. 80 mph to 40ish.

Ride height: Front 113mm Rear 129mm

In the photo I can tell I'm trailbraking because of my hand position.

yes! You need stiffer springs and Motons

I wouldn't be concerned, the splitter is doing it's job. You're seeing a shadow that makes it look lower. Put some chalk on it and see if it rubs off. I doubt it. There is the possibility that this pic was taken before I fixed your splitter and the air was pushing it down. I lost a few that way. but irrc it was just the middle that was loose and you wouldn't see that from this pic.

Pete, by the looks of that picture (rear of car, not front) I'd guess you are under hard braking, not trailbraking and your car is fine

From the position of the front wheels in the wells (they are buried - look at the rims), the front end is heavily compressed. You are standing on the brakes. I sometimes see a track shot of my own car, look at the wheels and say "dang!"

It's both. I know I'm turning because of my hand position (strictly a 9 and 3 guy).

The wheel buried in the wheel well had me concerned.

Yea, Vic, stiffer this and that, mo money, mo money, mo money... I thought it might be a blown shock of something.

That's funny!! As Victor can attest, we were all complaining that it was too slow. We have so much space at our ax's that we usually see triple digits, sometimes as high as 115.

Default Reminds of a visit to the factory

In the early 1970's if you took a tour of the factory, the last thing that would happen to a car was to cross about 30' feet of reailroad cross ties to settle everything in. Then the car would pull on to a chassis dyno for about 30 minutes, going up and down the gearbox. You culd see the tire tread deform under acceleration and braking.

No worries. This pic isn't as extreme... Heading down the back straight away at VIR into the roller coaster.

Pete, I'm with you on this...I wouldn't expect my GT3 to dive so much under braking. OK there's weight transfer under braking, but to do that?

Stock Bilsteins could be worn...also, your ride height measurements...are they stock?

His ride heights are fine. I still say it's a trick of the light in the pic. BUT I did blow my shocks in under a year of hard use. I'm very hard on the equipment jumping berms etc.

Look at the bright side, with the car that low you'll push the cones out of the way instead of having them jam under the car!
