Customer installed 1 pad....backwards
Can you help the guy? Quite possibly the oldest GT3 track driver around, great guy. Have a partially worn pad from an old set?

Craig,
I went out to the garage, where I thought I had a discarded set of Pagid Yellow. Unfortunately I must have thrown them out. BUT .. it would be my pleasure to donate a full set of 4 PFC97 -- used but certainly OK for a few track days. All I would want is to be paid for the shipping. (Maybe we send it freight collect?) |

Man thanks for the offer - but:
The poor guy has a *brand new* set of Pagids - and CRS took effect and he installed the metal backing plate towards the rotor on one pad (how he did that I dunno...)

How long was it installed that way? I know of a spec e30 race car that ran a 20 minute session on track with one pad installed backwards, but flip it back around and it was fine...

Don't you sell those things?? What are you really looking for, a brand new pad or just a worn out pad from a set someone's about to throw out?? You might be lucky if you're looking for a worn out pad but who will split a set if its new you're looking for.... Just like I doubt you would sell just one pad!!

Seriously, I would ask some Pagid wholesalers for one new pad. They might have a broken shipment or like the advertising value.

Yep I sell those things. What he needs is a pad in good shape - just 1 pad of the 4 that are up front

Holy crap. And what does the rotor look like? Doesn't he also need another rotor???
Sounds like this is one of the those mistakes ($$$) that you learn from. Time to order a new set of pads. |

Double/triple luckily for him his rotors were trash anyway - he was bedding new pads on the old rotors before he installed the new GiroDiscs you see in the background.

Honestly I would tell your client to get a new set and keep the other one as a spare. You will never get a pad that will mach his set and I don't think it's really good to have two different thickness in the same caliper.

Thas Me were'r talkin bout....
Sorry Guys.. I shoulda known better...was a hard week that week... I did the obligatory 8 60-80 mph stops.. then in the evenin did about 6-8 more 100 mph stops.. and smoked a rear..Pads were too tight in the capiler.... spent the next day grinding lining material away on a belt table.. 2 trips to the shop and 3 skinned knuckles later the rears had enough clearance to work right .. all is good..thought the brakes were a bit noisy..And after listning to all U guys complaining on these forums about track pads being too noisy I was thinkin what the hell I'll put up with the noise..... Anyway after all that i did a short track day with it that way too.. a tight slower place that aint too hard on brakes.....I did 3 sessions, probably 30-40 min runnin time...only problem seemed like the ABS was confused goin in to some of the corners...mostly blind off camber types..to be expected i spose..How do ya turn them things off anyway ..The ABS? I'm from the old asbestos school and not used to havein the car thinkin for me...Hell its been 25 yrs since I've done any o this kinda stuff..I'm learnin all over again n havein a Ball.... Anyways I need One Front PAGID YELLOW Pad...996 GT3 Front... or a bunch a 1/2 used ones I could Rotate.. Or Craig see what ya can find out from the Pagid guys...I'm sposed ta be runnin again on July 21.. so I got a little time yet... Thaks for the thoughts GG |
