Can we fit hooter 255's up front? I'm using hooter slicks 250/650/18 up front with no issues.

Are those the girls in that restaurant chain?

If, so, you should be able to get at least one in the front seat and two or three in the back.

Is there a reason to go to 255 vs 250? If it were me I have a hooter sitting on me with hooter logo facing me but's that just me IMHO : ). Mike

What wheel are they mounted on?...stock?

Didn't Rad have as wide as a 285 Hoosier on the front of his car at one point on Custom offset CCW wheels?

The Hoosier A/R6 is very wide for a 255/35 18 and it is also short. 24.8" I believe. I have also run 250/650 18 radial slicks on 9" rims but would probably rub really badly with the 255 A/R6

I have the slicks 250' on 8.5 in stock rims but I am planning to use my 9in BBS for the 255 R6s

At least 2 996 GT3s ran 255 Hoosiers this year at the Solo nationals on stock width front wheels, but I imagine they rub at times.

255/315 is the new hot setup for the SCCA autoX stock GT3 (stock wheel sizes and offsets).

Anything 285 or smaller fits. The 255 Hoo is really a 275/30R18

Is that on the 997 (which has bigger wheel wells)?

Wheel well is not the problem with sizing, it is the wheel carriers and struts. The 996 GT3 can use wider front tires than the 997 GT3.

What does one have to do? What offsets and wheel sizes work? What camber and caster settings? I get a little rub near full lock on the left with about - 2.2 camber. It rubs on plastic liner at front ( chews off a plastic mounting clip) and on body at the rear. I track the car, but want to leave it reasonably streetable for WE fun. I'd love to get some more front tire to help with the understeer.

Nothing to do. The 255 Hoosier is shorter in diameter compared to the 235 stock PS2 tire (15mm shorter diameter). The 255 goes on the stock 8.5" wheel, or wider if you run wider wheels.

Wheels up to 1" wider than stock can run the stock offsets. Beyond 1" wider wheels, you need to start playing with offset to avoid inner rub front (strut) and rear (trailing arm).

Shims in the control arm add caster, move the wheels forward and increase rub against the plastic liner). Lowering the car helps to eat the plastic liner as well. There are plenty of discussions in this forum about caster/camber and plastic liners and plastic rivets and upper brake ducts flying away.
