Carfax shows "Minor" rear accident. I emailed the dealer last night to see if they could provide contact info for previous owner, or have him contact me to avoid privacy issues.

Holy crap! The ability to pick up a GT3 for 40K is just unbelievable.

Exactly. The prospect of picking up a 6 for 1/3 the price of a 7.2 is simply amazing. If I had not just spent a mint on remodeling my house I would have BIN the auction already

I drove this car Friday. Bodywork looked good, 3 of 4 tires are good. It does not have a cage as can be seen in the photos but has a bolt in rollbar that looked chrome plated. The harnesses expired 2008. I did not see the stock wheels but the Champions on the car looked straight. Two local PCA track guys did not seem to know the car. The engine ran O.K. but I was not able to run it to high rpm. Clutch felt good, no noticable issues with the transmission. The steering felt light and not particularly precise, could be alignment or me. I haven't driven a 911 in quite a few years but it sure didn't feel as good as my Cayman. The sales person did not seem to know what the "Upgraded suspension" included.

assuming this car was not in a bad crash, its a good prices, given decent track mods. Im suprised a dealer would price it so low .e.g. asking 42k.
Seems like a strong data point for 996 gt3 prices .. its alot of performance for 40k or less.

I also contacted the dealer about this car on friday, he said that it wouldn't last the weekend. The price is great, but the accident scares me some. I know this dealer & for them to sell this at this price sets off a red flag for me! There are GT3's selling at 50k or a little less with no accidents( or aleast reported accidents). Bill, you said that you couldn't run it @ high rpm, is that because of traffic or because they wouldn't let you? The dealer said they have the car on the floor right now, so I going by later to look @ it through the window!

Traffic prevented full sustained throttle. Went on I-476 at the beginning of rush hour, although encouraged to push the speed at the exit, not knowing the car, only did 6/10.

Bill, I went to see the car monday morning, the pics did the car no justice! The car is beautiful! It drove fine, no different from my buddies 6Gt3. Shaun told me you were there on friday to test drive it. When he & I came back, there was someone else there waiting to see & drive the car, along with another salesman! Well, needless to say, he never got his test drive!!! I bought the car right then & there! My mechanic looked over the car today, she needs a front set of rotors & loose bolt on the drivers side seat! The car also came with the factory 18's with a fresh set of Michelins Sport Cups!!!!! Talking bout the deal of the century!!!!!

This was a former car of mine. Next owner only did hard track work with it (good driver!). When I bought it in 2008 it had 3K miles on it. It has already sold.
