Default Lap times for a Street 996 GT3 with Hoosiers at Road America

Does anyone know what the fastest lap time is, for a stock 996 GT3 with suspension mods and Hoosier or any other D.O.T race tires, at ROAD AMERICA?

How would it compare with a 360 or 430 Challenge Ferrari?

Please post them.

Thanks

Drivers Ed: Stock power, some sort of suspension upgrade and Hoosiers or their equivalent Its still going to be close to 2:30 maybe as good as 2:26 if really right. Too many variables to predict.

Professionally: Driving the No. 97 Tax Masters/Brass Monkey Racing Porsche 911 GT3, a pro driver uncorked a lap of 2:16.671 (106.626 mph ave) his second time around the 14-turn, four-mile circuit. His lap was more than a second faster than anyone else on the day in a late full tilt serial numbered racecar.

Thanks Michael.
I was more concerned with a STREET 6/GT3 upgraded with suspension work and tires.
not a cup car. Does anyone know how a GT3 street car with cage and suspension work, slicks, will be classified in PCA ??

WOW!!! That is fast. But I dont think the Brass Monkey Porsche was the fastest.
I believe GMG's owner, James Sofronas got the pole there with a 2:15.8 on those same street tires in his 997 GT3 Cup Car……and from the timing sheets, he was the only car in the 2:15’s.

I believe you are correct about qualifying but the Brass Monkey car was the fastest in the race.

Also the Toyo's on those cars are not street tires. They are R-Compound race tires that are shaved to 3/32nd.

Mike is wrong. I have a 996 Gt3 and have tracked it at Road America in about 7 days a year for the last 4 years . As you described 996 on Hoosiers with RS flywheel and minor mods to suspention. slow guys 2:43 -2:39 fast D E drivers
2:37 - 2:32. The best times with TOP racers in a street 996 GT3 @ 2:29 2:28

Go to Road America PCA club race records. Mike B. put away the Miata and try your GT3 for a change.

Ok spare.

Hell my 118HP S/Miata runs 2:40's I cant imagine someone in a GT3 running them. But whatever you say. I say that they need to pull up the anchor.

Nevertheless you ultimately state the same times I do with your low 2:30 - high 2:20's so the OP can get a read on it from there. I don't think any of the stated numbers are far off.

Now I'll go put away my Miata and try the GT3 for a change.

I tend to agree. The last time I ran my BMW 325 ITS car at RA a few years ago I ran 2:40.xxx. The class record in ITS is below 2:40 last I checked. BMW ITS cars have about 180-210hp and weigh 2750 (not sure if the weight rules are the same, from a couple of years ago). Tony C. in his Miata can give many ITS cars a run for their money for a few laps at least.

I would think that with twice the hp and only a few hundred extra pounds, that at a hp track like RA, a GT3 would be at least very low 30's or high 20's on Hoosiers. Street tires, I would expect high 30's or low 40's.

This is fact!!! Not a probly could be done. And only the hottest front runner driver can break 2:30 with a legal J stock car. I was objecting to Mike's using the word average driver should be low 2:30s.. That is a total sandbag and belongs on the racing forum where you can BS your friends. Mike is saying this to somebody he does not personally know.
